I'll just tell you a lil story. The scene is where most of my good childhood memories occurred. Our family home which was, compared to the noisy city of where we moved from when I was six, serene. And isolated with a full acre of woods in the back yard before opening up to our neighbors horse field (of which was surrounded by an electrified fence that we occasionally experimented with). One sunny summer morning, I was walking up cellar steps, with my eyes on my feet, up out into that back yard. I failed to notice until I came face to face with what was in front of me. Or rather who. My favorite neighbor. The older kid by a couple years who taught me how to cause a raucous on the school bus. There he was, straight faced, as still as a pelican, abracadabra'd out of thin air, staring at me, surprised, caught off guard, staring. Just a moment passed. Staring at him staring at me. Until he snickered along with which came out from his nose, a two foot hanging line of snot. Laughter and more laughter ensued for the longest I've ever laughed until we couldn't laugh anymore. My brain won't allow myself to forget that moment at the top of those steps. And every once in a while I'm reminded of times like those, these moments that are but a flicker of memory, but remain forever valued. Just a moment.
