You can tattoo over scars it may hurt like hell but it can happen. You have to have a very talented tattoo artist to understand how to do it mine will hopefully be tattooed over if it ever calm down enuff to handle being touched let alone stuck a million times lol. Girl he sounds like he was caught off guard talk to him about it.
The scarred skin won't take ink as well and won't look the same. If any artist does this, they are in it for the money, not making a long lasting and beautiful tattoo. The tattoo might could be done around the scar if its not bad. I have gone to really good artists though.

Those are usually flat and skin can grow back. Im meaning stretch marks, surgical scars, accidents where the scars are lumpy, or many layers out. Its also more dangerous because of infection.

I have 2 really large scars under left breast that circle around to my shoulder blade. Had lung removed. I used to think it was a bug deal but now I just tell the person..no biggie..honesty is the best policy ...ESP if u are that concerned bout it..

Here's my issue.. I have had several major surgeries in my life and have some pretty bad scars. But all of them are under my clothes.. so nobody sees them unless we are intimate. I was with someone earlier who saw the scar on my back when I leaned over and it freaked him out a bit. It hurt my feelings cause I'm wondering how are we going to the next step if he can't handle seeing my scars? I sure ain't gonna have sex dressed.. wtf!! He was upset that he hurt my feelings and apologized over and over. Should I worry about this or just wait and see what happens? How would y'all feel about dating someone with scars? I promise I'm not grotesque! Just have been through hell! 
I would much rather be with and see a woman who has the marks of living life vs sitting on the side lines...
the truth and reality is we all have scars of some sort...
unfortunately hollywood and magazines have given us this false perception that we akk need to be perfect, even actors, actresses and models aren't
they use tricks like air brushing, photo manipulations, stand ins, certain clothing worn certain ways to hide or distract someone from seeing and noticing their flaws...
and many shallow people and especially younger people fall for this hoax.... too bad they can't see the future mirror of what they will looke like at 50,60 & 70 from life's jopurney
don't sweat it a good one will not have issues and will actually love you for them its what makes you unique and you would not be you without them
I will not hide mine try to get them removed etc and my gal will accept them as part of me
just as your man needs to accept them ad part of you too.

Funny women get tattoos after breast cancer and are scarred badly. I know you want to be right but you just can't on this. My good friend is a tattoo artist and I have seen him tattoo scars and yes it doesn't take ink as well but it will take ink. There is away to do it I'm not him so I can't give you details on how its done. The one person that I watched him tattoo with the scars I know to this day and the tattoo is still perfect and its been 5 yrs. And he wasn't in it for the money. The women was a high school friend that was crushed by the scars and couldn't help but feel horror at them. She was and is a beautiful women but the scars were horrible and disfigured her. The tattoos helped her come to terms with the other scars and she is much happier now. He did the work for free.

October, I think the guy was shocked to see the scar on your back because it took him by surprise and to be honest if I saw a scar on someone's back and I didn't know about it I would probably gasp too! (Out of concern).
His reaction could have been concern that you had been through unbearable pain....not that it was ugly!

If you really like this guy and have thought about taking the next step with him have a talk with him about your scars and surgeries. Ask him to be honest with you. If this guy can't handle your scars then he has a problem. Sooner or later in everyone's life they are gonna end up with a scar or two that's just a part of living.

I have scars also and it can be unnerving, trying to decide.....do I tell him beforehand or just let him find out when we get there? In the end, it really hasn't mattered much to anyone but myself. I've had 26 years to get used to them and most of the time I don't even give them a thought.

Some things take getting used to, when they're unfamiliar. When I was young I was much more idealistic, more squeamish, more put off by things unexpected.
Someone who's pretty empathetic might lose wood thinking about the pain those scars imply. But you can help them with that, I'm sure.
So somebody freaks, a bit. You gonna let that stop you? Gotta run what you brung, or sit on the bench.

remeber to a real man thos scars are more like beauty marks you earnand have a dtory for each and every one.... they are part of whom you are and you would not be you without them...
