My peach trees are doing fine. I hope those bugs dont make it to Indiana. Were already having problems with our ash trees here.

Quote from gurnzy:
the beetle is blurry, but it does look like a Japanese beetle, pictured below, and local stores can help with what works in your area. I know that what works here doesn't work where my granddad lives.

If that's not a junebug,i'd nearly be willing to eat it.
They destroy blackberries here quickly,if you don't grab them as they ripen daily, but i've never looked into repelling them, since blackberries grow all over the place, free for the taking, but that certainl looks like a junebug,in the clear picture that you confirmed.

This is the japanese beetle. It attacks many fruit trees and vine as well as flowers, especially roses. The best products to use are Sevin dust for flowers, vegetables, etc. and Malathion for spraying trees.

Whenever you head to the garden carry a bucket of soapy water to pick the bugs to drop into the water. Keep the lid on between deposits so they cannot escape.

soap and certain spices like italian, indian, and other mediteranian hot spices seem to appear the best at repelling pests. cilantro kind of resembles soap and works on the ground; tobasco or something may work better for spraying leaves.

Thats a japanese beetle I agree with the poster above about seven dust but that would be a difficult treatment for a tree it would be better to get a insecticide specifically safe for fruit trees and apply with a hose end sprayer so you can cover all the leaves.Whatever you do dont use those Japanese beetle traps they will attract more beetles to the area than can be killed effectivley and you will end up with a worse problem.

It's a beetle, OP. Take it to your local extension office ... they will advise you on how to get rid of them.

Good luck.
