So far I'm making shepherd's pie, potato salad, 3 kinds of cookies, pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting and little candies.
Oldest sister wants money from me for flowers, church and church hall, obituary, funeral expenses...yikes! Better get some money together quick before she sends someone to collect it! lol

Be aware that funeral expenses should come from the estate. So often the funeral homes demand payment up front and have the family sign that they will agree to pay. However, the person's estate is responsible for the bills so if you contribute due to requirements of funeral home be sure you keep a record so it can be turned in when the estate is settled. I know your mother is still with you and you probably don't wish to put the burden on her but as wife she is responsible for the expenses. Also, if there were accounts in the deceases name only the estate is to stand good for that as well. No way is anyother person responsible for credit card charges, etc. SO EXERCISE CAUTION when it comes to the financial aspect of the situation. You cannot be held responsible for outstanding debts of the deceased unless you have co-signed. If you have a good relationship with your mother this can be worked through and sis can set back and grouch if it doesn't go her way. It's all too easy to put responsibility on another, especially when money is involved. One of the bad things to deal with when a loved one passes.
