I was just looking through one of many catalogue's i get when i came across this ,and it is so true.
It came to me that every time i loose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them,and every new dog that comes into my life gifts me with a part of their heart.If i live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog,and i will be as generous and loving as they are. {anonymous}

I have 3 Shih-tzu who all sleep with me, I'm also taking care of two more for a few days, you guessed it... I have to go to bed early to get a spot Then I find myself easing out of bed to go pottie so not to wake them up. When I get back they are in my spot cause it is warm and then they don't want to move. They all have to touch me when they sleep and I'm like an oreo cookie..Takes five minuets to move everybody so I can turn over. I am just talking, not wanting anything to change, If one is at the vets or something I don't sleep good without them. I know this may sound weird but if it wasn't for my dogs I doubt that I would be here today. When my Husband died I wanted to also, Everytime I set down they all got in my lap and stayed till I got up, and I could not leave them too.

The cleaning lady was here today.Her dog died about three weeks ago.I showed her the catalogue with that plack in it and she asked if she could keep it so she could order it for her dogs grave.
my dog will crawl up at my feet for about 15 minutes and then jump down and lay on the floor.Usually when i wake up he is sleeping at my feet again.

The dog I loved so much went to his maker six months ago. I had just gotten a male pug around then. He has really made it easier for me to get by without my old dog Bhear. Bhear was a Rottie and Tyson being a Pug you woud think I would not like him as well. He is growing on me. Tyson goes to the groomer when I do not feel up to bathing him. Tyson is like Velcro and sticks as close to me as he can. At night he gets into his bed until I retire. Then he climbs upon my bed and snuggles up to my back. He sleeps all night and I welcome the company. The monkey is entertaining and a comfort. I know Old ladies sleep with their dogs. I never would. Now I do. What more can I say. Ha! June

I wouldn't even let a dog in my house, let along sleep in the bed with one.
the only dogs we ever had were hunting dogs, and they stayed outside.

We have two Aussies (Australian Shepherds). They are outdoor dogs now, but when I was alone, they slept in their crates in the house. No one entered my yard without them alerting me, so I felt much safer having them in the house.

Our two kittens now sleep in one of the dog crates as they think night time is the time for running all over the house and playing, so the only way we could get any sleep was to crate train them!

Took chad for a walk today and when i got up to the front of the house the neighbor pulled up and took a box from the trunk into his house.He had to have his dog put to sleep.I felt so bad for him as i have had to do that twice.Chad found an old toy and is having a ball with it.

When I first got my puppy, Sweetheart, she would have to raise her head to be able to rest her chin on my bed so that she could be petted. Now she walks over to the side of the bed and lowers her head on the bed so she can receive her early morning petting.

I have had lots of dogs over the years, they are more loyal than people, that is for sure and they do not judge you do not care whether you are rich or poor.....at the moment I have 11 dogs, outside and inside, little one now, used to raise Weimaraners...daschunds, beagle, terrier, a yorkie, all rescues that have been dumped...all neutered and tagged One thing about the dogs, if they get pregnant, you can sell their children, not like your teenagers, lol

I have been away from the 70s group forum for a while. My 18 year old dog got cancer and it was a long hard battle taking care of him. I wasn't going to get another but when I took his bed, leash, etc to the local animal shelter, a 1 year old black lab mix stole my heart. Oh and two black kittens also. We are having quite a time getting to know each other.

I was feeling sad and am so glad to find this forum thread and learn that it is not just me that loses a part of their heart when their dog dies.

When i got chad from the animal shelter,they said he was not house trained,but he has never done anything in the house since i got him,He gets me up sometimes at 3 or 4 to let him out.I clean the yard every week but havent been able to in this weather.I am going to have a big job if this snow ever melts.I throw his toys for him in the house,but thats not the same as a walk.
