"currently native" doesn't make sense.
Either they were native or they currently grow here.....

There was a time when there was a bounty on rattlesnakes in Minnesota--if that bounty had not been eliminated the rattlesnakes themselves might have been eliminated from this state.

And, then, there is the dodo--there once existed a time frame when the dodo was currently native to Mauritius.

There are rattlesnakes in Whitewater State Park, down by Rochester.
I've not seen them myself, but have heard other people have seen them.
They like to lay on the limestone in the sunshine.
I guess better in plain sight than waiting in the grass.

Didn't know that. I did know there used to be poisonous snakes native to the prairies in MN.

I grew up in southern calif and hate both rattle snakes and cactus.
As far as I know, there aren't any rattle snakes up in my part of Minnesota.
Here is a fun fact: Female Bell peppers have 4 bumps on the bottom and males have only 3.
That has absolutely nothing to do with cactus and rattle snakes but I thought I would share just in case any one wanted/needed to know.

I know rattlers are native to prairies which abounded in Minnesota at one time. I understand it is only one reason why prairie women liked a cabin with a floor.
