Happy father's day, honey. I know you're looking down on us and smiling. We miss you. I wish you were here to see how your daughter is growing into a kind, warm, loving, and smart young woman. She is certainly your daughter.

This is the 4th Father's Day without him. Getting ready to go to my daughter's house for dinner--We don't do the restaurants on Father's Day anymore. Maybe one day, we will-My Dad found this a few days ago and sent it to me--Funny, I am 56 and still have my Dad--That is the thing I miss the most--having my family as a whole-
I am in the second row behind the lady in blue--(my Great Aunt) The baby in my arms is my oldest daughter--The handsome guy with the ponytail next to me is my man upstairs-- Many moons ago--

What a wonderful family shot. I wish I could provide to my daughter the big family I had when I was her age. We moved away from them, but even so, it seems like it's just not the same. There just isn't so much of the closeness of the cousins and aunts and uncles and things getting together like back then. That is our fault, I understand that, but still.
I was looking as some family pictures a few days ago, and so many of them are gone now. And the pictures were only about 10 years old. It was sobering.
For a few years, we busied ourselves with other things on significant dates, like father's day, but lately it hasn't been quite so sad. We still have our days, and probably always will. There will always be triggers. But today is OK.
