When I visit DH or log in I receive inbox messages from what appear to be fake generated profiles. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening, or is it on the DH side of things?

They usually get deleted within a few minutes, but I still get the email notification about it.

Not a really big deal, it's just been going on for a while now and I want to know what's going on with the DH website and how it's being addressed.

Any news and information on this is much appreciated.

Thank you.

That's not the answer I'm looking for, but thanks.

Thanks for sharing, doesn't shed any light on the matter though.

Like I said at first, they are deleted(not by me) within a few minutes. I said it's also not a big deal, so I pay little attention to it. What I'm looking for is an answer from somebody in the know, someone who knows the inner workings of this site on a technical level. That can explain why it's happening and the countermeasures that have been implemented. Also to find out if there is a solution to remove this problem for future reference, or if a solution is being worked on at all.

That's all.

Yes, it could easily be ignored by deleting and/or hitting the flag button, but it doesn't solve the problem.

It's been awhile since i've registered on here, but there are multiple forms of verification to solve this, such as captcha/recaptcha, 2-step verification, etc. that is really surprising that they haven't enforced yet.

Instead of devoting labor/ UI/UX support to deleting profiles, how about they just fix it? Its not hard to implement into coding either.

A lot of things don't make sense here on DH so it's not surprising, it's like nobody's home.

You could do this below but then you'd be lying ...hmmmm...but you have enough friends thru this site etc, right???? so do this below to not attract unwanted emails

*Setting your status to 'married' or 'in a relationship' will keep your profile out of search results; for people who are still here for friends or the forums.

I have the same exact problem. For a couple months at least? I got 5 within about 10 minutes. It's very annoying. Dh will auto delete them after awhile. I do not know if it's because somebody else flags them as fake or what but they do disappear eventually. I don't know a solution either.

I've been on POF for years, although I am mostly here on DH just using the forums, I've never liked the way that POF has their forum format. I haven't checked out their forum for about 3 years. The Blog feature is one of the main reasons I like DH, as far as the dating aspect it has nothing for me.

@senshu DH appears to have captcha for logging in, can't say about registration because I don't know.

@sorpstar I try to minimize the untruths on my profile to 99.9%, the truth is definitely doing a great job of keeping away most Women(that I know I don't need) from contacting me anyway. I don't put too much stock in finding somebody from websites, from misrepresentation to flat out fake-ery, I know I'm better off for it.

Those pesky bots on DH are just fluff anyway. Kik chatbots actually can appear to have a conversation with you, if not repetitive. Tagged chatbots are on the same level. I remember back in the day(probably a decade ago), forum bots would put all these chatbots to shame!

I have been getting emails from what seems like spam, they are all without photo, and are vulger/sexual with a phone number, I just click on the email, and hit vulgar/harrasment below. I don't know if it helps, but I don't know how else to get rid of them.

Yeah it's probably been about 4 months, for me it started after what appeared to be a problem with my main photo on my profile. I thought it might have been deleted because somebody got mad that it was a meme about Valentines day. It started showing my main photo as one I had deleted a long time ago, how that worked I have no idea, it was obviously saved somewhere... So I left it alone, then the bots started. After a while the main photo(Valentines meme) returned all by itself with the old one gone again, and yet the bots are still messaging/viewing. Along with private viewers checking up on me from time to time. LOL

@bluengrey4ever I'm sure it helps in some way, being proactive is the best anyone can do for now I guess.

Hello,
I have been getting them also for months...unwanted spam... is what it is... THERE is no person in management that you can talk to at this site... I've been here over 5 yrs..too!
THis site was COOL 3-5 yrs ago When it was Owned by the California People... butt several yrs ago... People from New YORK bought it and it has become less desirable...
I love the format of this site...butt hate the RUDE women on here... the nasty attitudes meaning
~~~ I can treat a woman very nice.. I can flirt ...and she will write back with a nasty ""Go away ...not interested""...butt mostly the woman never write back.. and that alone is frustrating! CARL
THIs site is FREE....so Just gotta persevere.... anyway THis site is Way better than FARMERSONLY.com a pay site I joined for three month trial...they TOOK my $40.00 and allowed me to use the site for two days...before something happened..and nobody can contact me... or vice versa.. it's like the site wont' work when I'm logged on..and THERE is NO management personel there to HELP ME! I got my Money back by having my Wells FARGO BANK make a claim against this Farmers only for not providing services promised..! THe BANk Believed me and gave me $40 in my bank account while they filed a claim to collect!
Fake profiles setup to spam legit members. Likely that DH has no way to prevent it as there is no verification precess to get an account, it's a free site...lol. The posts are deleted once a legit member flags the message as a spam or marks the message as from fake profile *tools on message inbox and sender's page*. Then dh probably deletes or locks that profile which removes their messages from everywhere.
Keep flagging the turds!
