There are those that think the Earth is only 6,000 years old.
And a whopping 24 percent of Americans believe dinosaurs and man hung out together,meaning they think the Flinstones is a documentary.
Could you date that person ?
There was a Gallup poll a few years ago that said 1 in 5 people believed the earth revolved around the sun and Im sure its the same group that saw Bigfoot having a burger with Elvis too.

I think that people that believe that and churches that teach it....
Are misinterpreting the Bible.
There has been different earth ages..
or.."dispensations of time."
There are those within Christian circles that are very anti-Science and will even go as far as trying to cling to a century long conspiracy that science is trying to defraud humanity.It makes no sense at all watching these ones recycle already debunked arguments from the 1700s and 1800s while they cling to their conspiracy.
But the fact is,Geology was established by Christian scientists.
To put things in perspective,most early geologists were members of clergy.Their field work and Bible reading provoked one another.In other words, Geology has a theological heritage.
Simply put,Geology was established by Christian scientists in the mid-seventeenth century and for two hundred years its expressed goal was to demonstrate that through both mathematical and scientific grounds the earth itself could give us evidence of a global Flood thus confirming the Bible against skeptics.
By the end of this period it was the Christian geologists themselves who admitted that there is no evidence in the geological record for a global Deluge and “Flood Geology” collapsed as it became clear that the earth was not thousands but tens of millions of years old.

I think we have misinterpreted the Scriptures many times and we’ve tried to make the Scriptures say things that they weren’t meant to say, and I think we have made a mistake by thinking the Bible is a scientific book. Just noticed be_great's thread called "Let's Celebrate 7,000 Years of Man and Woman Union"...quite sure be_great is one those that think man and Dino co-existed and thinks the The Flintstones is a documentary.

the Bible is not a scientific journal meant to explain creation in a literal sense and the age of the Earth is 4.54 ± 0.05 billion years and 160,000-year-old fossilized skulls uncovered in Ethiopia are oldest anatomically modern humans.
The results of the find was reported in two papers in the peer review science journal Nature.
