His aggressiveness was a little too much for those members who want to debate intelligently. See, certain member's posts interrupts the original topic's normal flow. Your post above is a good example.
No, dear, it was not a matter of influencing me but of agreeing with them....and ""I don't give a s...t that you don't give a s...t""

blocking sucks. cowardice. just means the blocker has nothing cogent to add to the discussion. there's this technique known as ignore if you don't care to hear what a person has to say.
I think it's okay to block people who would be suspended and banned for their conduct if the site was actively moderated, and KB comes under that description. He's always denouncing members with language like "You are a nutcase" - not to mention his annoying "Stay in your grave" rebuke to anyone who rejects his constant simple minded resort to the shaky Pascal's Wager argument. Why converse online with obnoxious people who wouldn't be worth the time of day in real life? Life's too short, blah etc. Although I suppose most people on this forum could be classed as obnoxious by someone. It's either hostile aggressive atheists with delusions of having psychiatric diagnostic abilities, or dogmatic and preachy Christians who continually recycle previously debunked arguments as if they haven't been been addressed

point taken, clarence. blocking someone who's antics would get them banished were these forums moderated is one thing but what if the blocker is no less guilty of those same antics? is saying, "you are a nut case," any more a caustic personal insult than saying, "you're not intelligent enough to participate in this thread?" does either comment "contribute to the flow of the topic?"
frankly i don't really care that some people here cannot carry on a civil discussion. it's a dating site and as i've given up on getting laid here i participate on the forums for my amusement of which there would be less if we didn't have the obnoxious among us to laugh at along with whatever discussion of any substance might occasionally develop. not unlike attending a fight and a hockey game broke out.

Just thought I'd drop in for a quick check, seems to be "business as usual"...
Haven't got the time or energy to get involved in intense discussion/debate so, if you consider this "hit and run", and are offended, sue me LOL
(Aside to Clarence- Whether or not certain arguments are "debunked" is, a matter of opinion. Obviously we have disagreed, and would continue to disagree on this judgement, in certain instances.)
As to this particular subject:
While it would seem reasonable that a greater prevalence of more open demonstration of icons representing particular aspects of theological belief, or declaring identity with a particular group, may indeed be seen as a "religious push back"- (There does seem to be an atheistic contingent that has declared war on all theistic belief)...
My reaction/comment/analysis as to this particular statement...
as though the US Conference of Catholic Bishops ordered their masses to drown out and suppress atheism by a dramatic show of their numbers in the population. This is more evidence that this Church is running an internal dictatorship within our country and directing its members to act in concert against the rights and freedoms of individuals it disagrees with.
"As though"... Indicating that the statement is nothing more than a suppostion on behalf of the individual presenting it.
If said statement were supported by some evidence (such as, perhaps, a quote from the pope threatening excommunication for anyone not making such a public demonstration) then it might have some credence. That not being the case, it would seem to merely be based upon individual prejudice.
Additionally, I fail to see any credence to the claim that, even if the RC were threatening such a sanction, that this would in any way be acting against the rights and freedoms of individuals it disagrees with.
Could this be illegal? It would seem so if they are in fact extorting their members with threats of ostracism or Hell to do this.
Again..."It would seem so" (opinion) "if they are in fact" (admission of lack of documented fact to even support a basis for the allegation).
And operative point their members
In this respect, one might consider any "church" to be equated with a private club. If you do not agree with the charter, or rules of of said club, you simply do not have to belong to it.
I haven't read the whole thread, so do not know if KB was perhaps discourteous enough to warrant being exiled, but I would have to agree with his initial categorization of "atheist radicalism".
I deem it rather ironic that a segment that argues against militarism and coercion on behalf of institutions based upon theology, are advocating and practicing the same sort of tactics in a "crusade" against theology, rather than actually practicing "live and let live", and granting persons the right to believe as they choose (of not), and to demonstrate the same publicly, without threat of retaliation.
If you advocate limiting freedom of speech, or deed, to only that which does not offend anyone, then you are not advocating freedom, at all- regardless of your motivation.
What so many of those who consider themselves as "progressive liberal" fail to acknowledge is that they themselves use the same tactics as those they oppose, and are therefore just as guilty of "suppression", or "oppression" as their opposition.

Yes...my answers were the correct ones to a person who can't see beyond his nose on this subject; he is the perfect example of what "subliminal job" does to a person. Please, his fanaticism and aggressiveness make impossible any / all intelligent conversation / debate on this subject. Read the other posters' answers to what he said. Period.

Jester, a little advice about debating atheists: whenever you disprove one of their pet theories (quite easy to do, of course) they resort to personal insults, thinking that in that way they have won the argument. Just thought I'd give you a head's up.

I have not noticed that trend ..... but I can see why your friend can be concerned.
I would think that most of the posters in this forum would see nothing wrong with it ..... but ..... if people were starting to wear swastikas instead of christian crosses ..... they would be up in arms. I see little difference in the two ..... both are displays of unity for/against something.
Is it in any way breaking the law to don such a symbol? ..... I don't think so.
One thing good about it is that it makes it easier to identify your enemies.
Happy New Year!

Yesterday, at a local store, I was addressed as "Sister" by a gentleman who was preaching around. I said to him "Don't insult me, I am an Atheist." He, then, started to preach -pointing his finger at me- harder than before. I asked him to bring his ignorance to those stupid enough to believe it. He reinforced his preaching until I threatened him with the store security. Then, he run away like a rat from a sinking ship. I had a good laugh.People around were upset because I talked back to a "Brother". I sent those people to F..k and back.
It was a hilarious experience.

Catholicism's but also other Christianity is against sex because it's a normal and natural way humans bond with one another, especially at deep emotional level. If you take that away, and it would seem fearful, guilt ridden, weak mind ignorants would do so willingly, controlling them in every other way is quite easy.
You have to remember Jesus forbidding all his men not to have sexual thoughts about women. The obvious homosexuality is apparent but it runs more deeply into the path of self loathing and self denial. Again, Jesus says you can't follow him unless you hate yourself. This is among the most insidious of Christian toxic dogma
Because of this religious fanatics are sexually dysfunctional on the scale from sexual anorexia to promiscuity and pedophilia. Morons like Lud are too stupid to realize that but so are so many other brainwashed religious loons.

Then Jesus was an illegitimate child. And it doesn't matter whether the father is a Roman or a pigeon.
that's not good for society, or tge children, right?
Jesus certain wasn't. And it probably wasn't that good for that child to run off naked when they got Jesus. They said young man but 13 is considered a man.
And people who have sex with people to whom they are not married are making themselves into selfish people, and that's not good, right?

I do not speak for, or about, Catholicism much, as I disagree with a great deal of the doctrine it presents.
Also, one might bear in mind that "religion" and "theology" are not synonymous.
Any system of belief and/or discipline may be legitimately classified as a "religion", under certain definitions. For example the "code of Chivalry", or "Samurai code".
And nearly every (if not all) "religion", "code", or system of discipline adjures restrictions upon sexuality (though the exact boundaries may vary greatly).
I would say that the injunctions about sexuality are due to the fact that the primal urge is towards "if it feels good do it". And indulging in such undisciplined hedonism tends to have seriously deleterious effects upon the individual, let alone society.

The rumor says the immense fortune of the Catholic church could be in danger if the priest would marry because......dears... upon his death his widow could place a claim on the money...something like "the church should pay a pension to the woman and children."
Another rumor says this monarchy we know as the Catholic church indulges so much in / enjoys so much the practice of homosexuality that this institution is afraid of the competition from women.
A third rumor states that celibacy was imposed because on those times the oldest son -whom usually became a priest (tradition) was the one who inherited the family' s money and, upon his death, the church would get all the $$$$
