So stupid. He has 696 homers. No point retiring that close to 700, 755, etc.... Plenty players have down years and bounce back, so you can't say for sure this one year means he can't have another one or two 30 homer seasons.
At the very least he should get on with a team next year and just play a hand full of games to get his 4 homers to get to 700.

nobody wants a washed up DH. the yankees were on the hook for the last $26 Million.
Best to move him out of the lineup and create another roster spot for a younger player.
at 41 and batting a paltry .204 for the season, even he knew that his playing days were numbered.

I'll bet the Yankees could hire Sorp as an advisor for a lot less than 21 million, what do you think?

Gotta say A-Rod went out tonite his way...he did everything correct tonight. He won many games for Yanks and even admitted his sins...all I want is Ortiz to do the same...tell your sins Big Popi..the media kisses your ass...why??? You were on the same list as A-Rod was...they went after A-Rod first for a few reasons...he was a Ranger makin the most money and at that time baseball's best player...

Tyler Astin and Aaron Judge brought up...they went Back to Back Hrs in first at bats...both went 2 -4..yanks still have some life..4 games over 500
Mets under 500...
5 Hrs for yanks..all hit by players 26 or younger today

If by I-rod you mean ivan rodriguez, I didn't really ever see any bad press about him over the years. At least not related to how he acted. I went to some of his games, though, and kids begged him for his autograph and he didn't sign, IIRC.

Quite frankly, the conference was the biggest farce filled with insincere gestures and statements that I have personally ever seen. But what made this worse was Girardi promising Rodriguez playing time in his last days when he clearly didn't give a damn about him and only shed crocodile tears to be somewhat endearing, but he came off as a phony. Shame on both parties......gamer

Gamer you're a Mets fan and Yanks let him go but are paying him so he's free to do what he wishes.ok see him next season tryin to get 700 plus HRs and any team can sign him for league minimum and Yanks pay the rest...he know he did wrong but iMovie big popi gets into HoF so should A-Rod...if neither gets in that's ok w me..
A-Rod would make a good teacher, maybe a mgr too if given a chance..jmo
Btw look how the youth is performing since A-Rod is gone...all under age 26 too

He's 42 but you'd think with a few more steroids and drugs he'd have enough gas left to hit 4 more. Since he's cheated and been on drugs I don't think I'd vote for him for Hall of Fame.

I never heard that Big Papi cheated.
The 2003 of PEDs list A-Rod was on as a member of Rangers, popi was on that list of 100 too...media went after A-Rod first obviously he had the $250 million 10 yr contract..he gets a pass because media kisses his butt..but if popi makes hall so should a-rod...I'll be happy if neither makes it too..

I never heard that Big Papi cheated.
Almost all of them cheated per 2005. I believe there are several HOFers that were using PEDs including the hallowed Cal....
