The busyness of Christians is a narcotic. It leads to double mindedness. It's a mass of connections, a stimuli of activity, ever increasing calls upon our time. The more impossible it is to understand the danger we are in. The mirror of God's Word is there but we have to stand still long enough to see a reflection. The busy man is moving so fast he has no time to reflect. He rushes by now and see's nothing. He may even carry the mirror in his luggage but he doesn't take it out to see and judge himself.
Worst of all the busy man/woman is worse than a man with a life killing disease. The man with the deadly disease see's the symptoms growing worse. But the busy man/woman has a condition that he/she becomes more and more agreeable, more and more comfortable with the disease of business and it becomes easier to excuse. We becomes less prayerful, less conscious about the things of God. Our convictions begin to wain and finally our actions prove that we has lost the heat of our convictions.

You make a point.
One can be taken away from that which truly matters by the cares of this God forsaken world.
Be in it , but not of it.
We all fall victim to the cares and business of the world. I know I sure do.

It sure does seem that some people are very busy not doing His work.

I`ve led a very busy life.
And the way I see it? I might not have had a lot of success but tried hard. And I always felt that not pushing ones self and trying to use all the talents you were given? Is a waste in a way.
Retirement for me, did not mean slowing down at all. Just now, I can do work that I feel needs to be done and I no longer have to worry about bringing enough bacon home to feed the family. Sure my pensions do not make me rich, but I get by, and can devote time to what I think is more important.
I know some would disagree with me. But, hey, different personalities require fulfillment in different ways.
Not saying you are wrong in what you posted, many probably would do well to follow it. But some of us are at our best when we are very busy. Idle hands, kinda thing?
