I notice it happen A LOT to my cousins that range in ages from 14-17.When I hang out with my aunts, uncles, and cousins at a restaurant, the adult waitress looks at all of us when asking for our order. But if the waitress decides to say bye to each one of us individually as we are leaving,my aunt gets told''have a good day ma'am,''then my uncle walks by ''have a good day sir'',I then walk by and I get told''have a good day sir,'' but when my cousins are about to walk by,the waitress just walks away without saying shit to them.I always am polite to everyone despite me being an adult,I don't ignore people just because they are a minor or whatever. Why are many adults that are like 19 and older do this?

Because kids are always off in their own world and most probably don't care either way. When I was a kid I didn't give a damn about pleasantries. I was too busy making one of my salt/pepper, katchup/mustard/A1 sauce concoctions. And now as an adult, I barely, hardly care about pleasantries.

Steven is just mad because he's still forced to sit at the kids table. Do they give you crayons to color with at least?

It's actually a fairly complicated social standards/training thing, and has nothing at all to do with being surly to the youngsters.
There are several factors involved. One is based on the training most people get, usually indirectly, that they are supposed to officially recognize adults in a social situation. That has changed over time. It was once considered rude and intrusive for wait staff or other company representatives to address or admit to the independent human status of the WOMAN who was with a man.
Then there is the influence of Business science concepts. Everyone working these days, is supposed to think about who is spending the money, and profiting the business. That means they talk to the adults with credit cards, and not to the people who don't have them.
Then, of course, with all the hypersensitivity some people have these days, it can be dangerous for wait staff to directly talk to the children, for fear that the parents will think they are preying on them somehow.
So all in all, calm down. It's not disrespect. If anything, it's convoluted EXTRA respect that you are witnessing.

Why would they be afraid of people thinking they are preying on my cousins 14-17 years old just by saying goodbye to them when they are leaving?

Are you including 14-17 years old in that category? Cause this happens so much to my cousins and they range in ages from 14-17 years old.

Read all the items I listed, and don't just zero in on that. However, I have myself had a number of jobs interacting with the public in my life, and you would (obviously) be surprised at how many times defensive parents were suspicious of why I was behaving in an at all friendly manner towards their children.

Because it is what it is OP! Society has programmed this subliminally into the subconscious of Americans what with all the news everyday that yet another teacher is having sex with their students, convenience store countertops all have local newspapers with pictures of all arrested within a short period of time and details of crimes, the post office and some grocery stores all have pics of 'Most Wanted', websites that list 'sex offenders', and then all the Amber Alerts.

Even women waitresses do the same dam thing.I can see if people would be concerned if the waitresses were asking to many questions to the people that are under 18 years old but just saying''Have a good day'' to a teenager or whatever is considered suspicious to many people?Once again even adult female waitresses do the ignoring thing when it comes to people under 18 years old, even though ironically a good amount of times just a couple years earlier the adult waitresses were under 18 themselves.

Is that the same reason the female adult waitresses don't say bye to under 18 years olds that are with adults?

I wouldn't even rank this as a problem, a petty annoyance at best -- but, yes, a First World annoyance.

Doubtlessly the drivel above amuses you, gawds_babble, but WTF are you attempting to posit and what, if anything, is its contextual relevance? Are you stating that relatively short human animals -- as is the case with most fourteen-year-olds -- should magically become 5'7"? Your hair-trigger stupidity has already been exposed, exceedingly so, don't embarrass yourself further.

She needs to know where to text them so they'll see it.
Kids aren't the ones paying the bill.
Kids don't have real rights until they move out, get their own place and foot all their own bills like mom and dad.
