So the question of the day is how young is too young? I am thinking there is no reason I cant consider someone over 40. Not looking at people my kid's age. In Ohio, 16 is the consensual age, so technically anything 16 and above is LEGAL, now I wouldn't say it is APPROPRIATE, however. One of my Security Officers was over 18 and dating 17 year old, so being that Security Officers are not allowed to have charges against them or they lose their State license, I had to review these laws to make sure he wasn't in any immediate danger of going to prison. A few pointers for your situation: 1. Try making your profile visible. Hard to knock on a door that is not visible to the naked eye 2. If you are looking at the range above 40, you will need some "old school" values to attract these women. "Old School" dates and some very intellectual conversation goes pretty far with these women, because they have seen and done quite a bit with their lives(usually). 3. Make sure to dress the part. Women, just like men, do appreciate a man that is clean cut and proper. The over 40 crowd is usually not focused on dating so much, and they have already learned to avoid the "bad boy" and "male slut" types. 4. Watch for your own age, here. I haven't met many 40+ that enjoy the idea of being a "cougar", but there are some out there and they are usually pretty damn hot for being older.

That means he isn't actually attracted to the people he is talking about, as people, and is only trying to change his targets for the sake of a numbers game. I think it's more a matter of if you're in the same place in life, or you're willing to be in the same place in life, if you aren't already. Using me as an example, when I was ready to date again, I had a small child. Most men in my age group had already raised their kids and were not interested in starting over again with more kids. We just weren't in the same place and it was totally understandable that a man my age wanted to start the next chapter in life. But if she'd been an adult, too, and out on her own, or if I didn't have any children, it'd be quite possible we'd be in the same place even if we had a 20 year or so age difference. I think, too, that it is possible to blend the different point of references that happens when you have a big age difference. Just because one person is big into The Animals and the other is big into The Clash or Prince...or Boys II Men (wait, that one may be too big an age difference...) doesn't mean it can't work.

But, that wasn't the point of my post...I assumed the op meant for something real and I posted based on that.

I don't think a 20 year difference is a big deal if we're both mature adults. Wouldn't matter if I was 30 and he was 50, if I was 40 and he was 60, or if I was 60 and he was 80. From there on, you have to avoid problems with yourself, and your community. Maybe you can stand dating someone young enough to be your grand-daughter, but your friends / family may have problems with it. Please yourself, and either please, or avoid, your friends / family / neighbors, etc. Some folks like dating younger people, others enjoy dating older people, others don't let age bother them either way, and some are nuts about only dating in their own age group. Decide where you fit on that spectrum, and then look for someone who fits your criteria whose criteria you fit. If you want to date a 25 year old, find a 25 year old who wants to date you. I have dated college gals 14 years younger than myself, and retired grannies 23 years older than myself, as well as women my own age. I haven't cared what others thought about it. You seem to be the type to care, though. So, date whom your friends think you should, if you wish to please them instead of yourself. Or, worry less about age, and more about being compatible in the arenas of: music, movies, recreation, religion, politics, life goals, and investment goals. You can consider someone over 40, or under 40, as you wish. Maybe your striking out has more to do with your attitudes, recreations, goals, etc, than with your age. If all you want to do on a day off, is sit and watch sports, but the women you meet want to hike, bike, swim, etc, you will strike out.

Years ago I dated a young lady who was 17 years younger than me, 45/28 but she hadnt been an adult long enough to have what, "grown up" and there just werent enough years of experience as an adult to have a common background in historical reference. But I started this thread for a couple reasons. One was the reason that was stated, which is getting some feedback on just how young is too young in terms of being able to have an actual relationship. The second is to shake the trees a little bit and maybe some (none identified) nice lady will figure out that she might do a lot better in life if she started to think positive and have a young attitude. Its unfortunate, or maybe bad luck, that many people I meed are doing nothing more than hanging around waiting for the grim reaper. Sad but true. As I have said in real life, someone prove me wrong up close and personal.

If you are comfortable sleeping with someone 20 years younger than you are, then that is fine. You have to look at each person individually & not lump them together as one group because they are young. Young people can be very mature & very responsible. I've also met some 50 & 60 years old people that are very very immature with the mindset of a 10 year old little kid. Trump is 70 years old, & Melania is only 45 years old. Trump is very comfortable with his wife being much younger than he is. The media has been very kind to trump & they are not making fun of their age difference. And she also pose nude for those girly magazine. She has the breast implants many many years ago before she even met trump according to her nude pictures. Society is more accepting of a man being 20 or 30 years older than his wife. People would not think much about it. But society is not very accepting of a woman being 20 years older than her husband.
