Specifically, back off the Padres!!!
The Padres were in the world series in 1998, but lost to the Yankees. Many thought the Yankees were 1. the best team money can buy, and 2. the best team in the history of baseball. Our fellow New York baseball fans told me to give a Bronx Cheer to the Cubs for their win this year....

Yes it is, Packer. I was hoping they'd win it all. Imagine all those teams from the early 60s that had 4 HOFers and couldn't win. Banks, Santo, Williams, Brock though Brock hadn't had his breakout year yet. That came when he was traded to STL. They had NO pitching. This years team has everything and they won 103 games. They were the best team in baseball, came back from a 3-1 hole and they deserved to win.

Now there's always some poor lonely guy out there that knows all kinds of useless trivia so how many people in the world RIGHT NOW were alive when the Cubs last won it all? Can't even be a handful can it?

Now there's always some poor lonely guy out there that knows all kinds of useless trivia so how many people in the world RIGHT NOW were alive when the Cubs last won it all? Can't even be a handful can it?
As a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and player in their organization I knew the Cubs were going to be good, very good, this year and for more years to come making it very difficult for my redbirds to continue their consecutive streak of playoff appearances and they fell short by one game. My congratulations go out to the Cubbies and all of their fans for a job well done after such a long wait to experience the ultimate in all of baseball.
