some of these photo filters and apps are pretty amazing. Unless it's cartoon dog tongue or alien eyes filter it can be hard to detect a pic has been "filtered". how the hell can we trust how someone looks anymore?
secondly, I don't use them but do guys doctor themselves on them too?

It is called "Photo Shopping" and you can not believe what you see in a photo. Someone that is well versed in using "Photo Shop" can make a person look thinned, taller, remove any imperfections, darken or lighten skin tones, and a dozen different things.
It is the old "Buyer Beware"

I'm more impressed by attitude and to be frank. A lot of attitudes suck on here.
I don't have instagram, snap chat or anything else. I don't need them. But it seems one forum member believes I do  great compliment shame it's from an a** 
You can't please everyone and more importantly, why would you even want to?

I just assume that people DON'T look like their picture and I meet people anyhow.
My determining factor usually is if they can hold a conversation and not how good I think they might look.
People usually look better than their picture or worse.
I don't get overly attached to someone before meeting.
I think NOBODY is real until we meet.
I sort of like that surprise factor! 
I don't even talk to people on the phone before meeting.
Also...people can hide that missing tooth without using a filter.

If the guy photo shopped his photos and he looked different in person I'd endcthe date and walk away.
I had a guy lie about his age.
I made it through the first date and I figured his age didn't match what he was saying he did in his life and he did admitted it. He did not get a second date.

All of your points make perfect sense in todays reality. I, like you and others are "old school" in our thinking. in my opinion anyone that willingly doctors a photo is an automatic liar and can't be trusted. Maybe it's the skeptical man in me but little clues lead to big truths when it comes to women

exactly my point. if I intended on meeting someone and I sent her a 9" d*ck pic and a 6 pack of abs. i'm pretty sure she'll realize that was bullshit. dudes have been trying this since the dawn of internet f**king/dating but women have been handed the keys to the beauty parlor now. we don't stand a chance!

I met someone who lied about his age on his profile and dated him for a bit.
However, it didn't really bother me a lot. We ended for other reasons.
His pictures from his travels in Europe caught my eye.
His profile on POF was also well-written. You could tell he was an intelligent guy.
However, having nice pictures and great stories really isn't as important as being able to get along well with someone once you start dating.
