So while watching a YouTube video on how badly polluted the air is in a lot of states and accross seas ..

It dawned on me an idea that could help clear the air and dirty water ..

Mankind must go extinct .

JK my idea is this , build extremely large filter's to clean the air .

And some for the waters ..

Maybe the word filter's doesn't sum up what I mean ..

If a filter works in a fishtank to keep the water from going foggy and green than the same factor might work for both air and lakes , rivers , streams and oceans .

The ones to clean the air would have to be massive and many would have to be made ..

It would have to be some kind of martial that can filter out carbon monoxide , and the other stuff causing the fog , like how a filter is placed in a slot in furnaces or dryers ..

The wind would cause the air to flow through but catch the toxics ..

I'm a f**king genius ..Okay I'm not but I do think a lot .

Now if people would actually do this ..

The military turns sewage into drinking water.

Actually you are not far off with your first option.

Mankind needs to be cut in half, while maintaining the same technology we have today.

If you look at the last 40 years, the population has doubled, which is faster than any other time in history. Our biosphere does not adapt that fast.

We have cleared land faster than any other time in history, we use more resources, and we have done nothing to replenish then.

As for man made filters for the air, that would not be practical. They would have to be so massive that they would block sunlight, and really restrict airflow. Trees use to filter the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide out of the air, at a much more beneficial rate, plus the produce clean oxygen as a side effect.

Man is the only animal that will purposely destroy his own biosphere without self regulation or worry.

No, we DON'T need to kill off half or more of human kind. That kind of thinking completely ignores that the world changes constantly, and that technology is changing as a part of that. It is NOT NOT NOT true that the amount of damage done to the planet is constantly and directly proportional to how many humans are on it.

Whew. Done with THAT nonsense.

As for filters: there is a LOT of progress and work being done on exactly that. In fact, I just read this:

https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/these-plastic-eating-machines-will-filter-our-junk-from-the-ocean

a couple of days ago, which is another example of how we CAN build new kinds of filters to turn things around.

In the end, there's really only one kind of human who we need to get rid of: the ones who either don't care that we're making an ecological mess, or who are working to profit BY making a mess (such as the current POTUS).

We have already succeeded in cleaning up several large areas which were once so polluted that they were uninhabitable. We can do more, and we will be able to, once we recognize that cleaning up after, IS a real cost which needs to be born BY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE PROFITING FROM MAKING THE MESSES.

3 million years ago during the Pliocene, the atmosphere contained almost the same level of carbon dioxide as today. The earth was covered with jungles and the poles were barren of ice. Funny thing is..there were no humans on earth back then. hmmmmmmmmm???

Your point? Does this mean that you also favor the elimination of human kind?

we USED TO have filters that would filter out the bad carbon dioxide/monoxide...

they were called "TREES',but then we started cutting most of them down, and guess what happened, then.

if you want to filter the atmosphere...
plant a tree!

Just get more and more government involved, blue and you'll feel right at home up there.

It was 84 down in St Paul today. The weather guy said it was 53 in Duluth! What must it have been in Grand Marais?!?!

My point is humans think they count way more than they do. Nature runs in cycles. Only man has written history to know changes. When humans reach the point of the dinosaurs, nature will say enough and knock off enough to re-set. Look at Chernobyl. Nature is flourishing. Despite contamination, I havent read any reports of three headed deer or barren landscapes.
I see on my farm that nature will not be denied. Every spring I yank out weeds and baby trees in the same spots. That which man creates vanishes under the jungle in a matter of years. A flower sprouts between slabs of concrete in highways. Nature adapts. Man can cause a glitch and nature finds a way to overcome it. The earth has gone though what we are seeing multiple times. Man cuts down a forest and it re-sprouts. A volcano spews a cloud that circles the globe for 40 years. Is the earth changing due to humans..yes and no. Someone found a caterpillar now eats plastic grocery bags. Bacteria lives in fumeroles deep in the sea. In the overall scheme of the age of this planet, man is a minor pest.

Sure they can, they have been here as long, if not longer, than we have.
