So when Jesus says you 'CANNOT KILL THE SOUL,' He means exactly that. When you die physically, your body goes back to dust but the soul can't be killed, it continues to exist after mortal death.
The problem here is, Jesus didn't say you cannot kill the soul.
CLV Ezk 18:20 The soul that does sin--it does die. A son does not bear of the iniquity of the father, And a father does not bear of the iniquity of the son, The righteousness of the righteous is on him, And the wickedness of the wicked is on him.

The soul dies when the body dies. We learn that in Genesis.
Not every sect or movement of the Jews believe that the soul lives on after death.

It is a shame that I have to go through such lengths in order to show that this bashingdoc has already said. Even though I know he said this, I am sure he will deny it, just as he has done before. Maybe it's time he man-up and admit when he is beaten?
Jesus never said, "you 'CANNOT KILL THE SOUL,'" He didn't say that because it is not true.
Perhaps this quacker can produce the book, chapter, and verse of where Jesus is supposed to have said this.

You cannot kill the soul according to Jesus' teaching but you can kill the mortal body.
This is NOT what Jesus taught.
The Jews of the NT did not believe in an "after-life" as we use that phrase today. The dead sleep until the Resurrection.
CLV Jn 11:11 He said these things, and after this He is saying to them, "Lazarus, our friend, has found repose, but I am going that I should be awakening him out of sleep."
CLV Jn 11:14 Jesus, then, said to them with boldness then, "Lazarus died.
CLV Jn 11:21 Martha, then, said to Jesus, "Lord, if Thou wert here, my brother would not have died.
22 But even now I am aware that whatsoever Thou shouldst be requesting of God, God will be giving to Thee."
23 Jesus is saying to her, "Your brother will be rising."
24 Martha is saying to Him, "I am aware that he will be rising in the resurrection in the last day."
I encourage you to read the entire chapter 11 of John.
The dead are described as sleeping because that is what they are doing until the Resurrection when they shall rise from the dead. Until then, they sleep.
There are very few exceptions to this.
A person is at various times, described in Scripture as a soul that can be killed.
The Scriptures tell us that a soul can be killed. Now, why would it say that? Maybe because a soul can be killed?

The soul dies when the body dies. It is interchangable. The soul died means the body died.
The actual soul & spirit are created in the image & likeness of God because God IS SPIRIT, immaterial, invisible.
This quacker doesn't know the difference between the "soul" and the "spirit." But how couild he? He uses the KJV. The word for "soul" ('nephesh') is hidden behind 44 different English words. They are all listed in Strong's.

Yet even after physical death we have a spiritual 'form' until we receive our resurrected immortal spiritual bodies.
Of course, this is NOT Scriptual. There is no spiritual "form." During the Resurrection, our bodies will be changed from mortal to immortal...
CLV 1C 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal put on immortality.

Read Paul's description of this process and how he describes the Resurrection in the 15th chapter of 1Corinthians.
When a person sins & becomes spiritually dead, the soul & spirit become spiritually dead, even though they are conscious & existing. So it depends on what life one is talking about and what death one is talking about.
The only time the Bible refers to "spiritual" death is when the term "spiritual death" is used. Or if it is obvious that "spiritual" death is the subject.
People like the bashingdoc like to make up doctrine and cover it with this made up word "spiritual" death.
Oh, that's right. the phrase "spiritual death" is not in the Bible.
