Driving gives independence, it's very important.
Unless he can't from a physical disability or loss of a limb or something (idk). I've dated 2 guys who didn't drive, it was very annoying.
and 1 guy who couldn't be bothered to come see me except for 1 time.

If you're single and drive, you're NOT taking turns with anyone to drive anywhere. So why expect a man to drive you when dating, especially in the initial days/weeks of dating?

I've dated both scenarios.
I have my own place and a car so it was fine. My only caveat to this would be to want to know why, at our ages, they don't have a car or a place of their own.
If it's due to continuing bad decision making capabilities, I might just keep moving.
