I think it may depend on a variety of factors. I couldnt and wouldnt. My kids irritate me (although I will never them that) when they do or say things like their Dad. Damn Genes.

I dated a guy after my first divorce, he looked VERY much like my ex. I finally had to break it off with him after doing a little small town gossip research. It seems that he was actually my ex's half brother, that his Mother had given birth to and given up for adoption.
Kind of scary!

Some people always date those that look like their ex. Others would never date someone that looks like their ex. As for me I have no feelings for my ex what so ever, so if I were to meet someone who reminded me of my ex physically it wouldn't matter to me either way. Now if they also acted like him then I wouldn't date them.

Seems like I always am attracted to the same type of man ,they don't look alike ,but always the same type ,I hate that,One time a guy ask me out he had the same name as my X I ended up not going. (weird)

I could if it was an ok break up.. I couldnt and wouldnt date any one who looked like my sons father.. He was very mean and I know thats not fair to the person cause hes not him but id look at him in fear since my ex use to beat me... Sry if I sound cruel and unfair but id look at them and see my past

I use to chat on this one site where I met my X anyways I saw a picture of a guy and I was OMG WTF is he doing here??
I mean this picture was Just like him..all the way!!
It bothered me so much I sent the guy a msg back and asked him to get on his web cam
and when he did...........What a RELIEF!!
There face to face didnt look like him at all.
I had shown the picture to my daugher and she as well said OMG Thats Francesco

The one guy who I loved madly years ago wound up marrying a woman named Jean. Before Jean was me, Jan. Before me, was Joan. Before Joan was Jane. He and I did manage to remain friends until he moved away and he confessed to me that on a few inopportuned occaisions he called his wife Jan. Can you imagine?

I don't know if I would date someone that looks like my ex, probably not. But recently I was dating this guy and I found out his ex wife not only looks like me, she is has the same exact profession as me and works at the same school I used to work at. And, she works with my cousin and has the same name as my cousin. That kind of freaked me out, I don't know why.

i once dated a girl named jennifer lynn, after her i fooled around with a different girl named jennifer lynn. i laughed my a** off about it, but i was in my early twenties. now im a bit older and i care not to have a girl with the same name, build, or anything resembling my X-wife.

It wouldn't bother me in the least. My ex is who he is, someone new is someone completely different...individuals.
The comparison of looks, same name, same kind of job or same hobbies, etc...if you look really hard you could probably find something comparable with someone new to your ex and you'd never find anyone. To me, I base my opinions of each person on that person's own merits and don't compare to any exes, it seems a little defeatist to me to compare.

strange story - my daughter recently found an old photo of "me" taken in our finished basement. I looked at it briefly (we were all housecleaning) and said, 'I don't recognize that sweater'...when I took a second look, of course I realized it wasn't me. This apparently was the girlfriend that broke his heart before we met. He would never talk about her so I really didn't know much, and surely didn't know that she looked like me. Even tho we'd been married for many years, it still bothered me that maybe he dated me because I looked SO much like her.
