Krupa, my man
Hard to belive that we're the only ones on this site. Why is it that folks are afraid to admit to being an Atheist. Maybe we should be worried about the villagers comming with torches....

After considerable reading, I have discovered that I am a scientific materialist. That means that I believe all things have a material basis ie. atoms and molecules....There are no spirits, souls, or ghosts. It seems humans really enjoy spoofing and being spoofed.

I know more non-religious people with better morals than many so called religious freaks. Dawkins has a few good movies. Its just sad that many of us don't have the balls to say what we are. I will admit being athiest to anyone. I love to get into arguments with people over it exspecially my familly. I thought good christians weren't supposed to judge. Anyone ever want to talk im here! What? You folks don't like to ?
Guess I gotta agree with you there. One more atheist here.
I read "The God Delusion", but I don't think it's Dawkins' best book. It must have felt awful good for him to vent all that steam though.
If you like to read stuff of that ilk check out Michael Shermer, good stuff. (google: Skeptic Magazine)

Agnostics don't care whether there's a god or not and live their lives as if it doesn't matter.

Deists, which many of the founding fathers were, believed that a god created the world, but took no further action in it.

A theist is a person who believes in a god. The prefix "a" means no or not, so an atheist is a person who says there are no gods. This puts the ball in the christians' court, because in science, you don't prove a negative. The reason the term atheist exists is because there are many more christians and other monotheists than there are atheists.

This is why people of faith will say to an atheist, prove there's no god. Of course, in science, you don't prove a negative. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. If most people in this country were atheists, we could say, in a scientifically correct way, prove there is a god.

People who aren't religious, but who believe in one or more gods, don't understand the history behind their belief. Nevertheless, I've met religious and christian people who were likeable. The only problem with most christians is, they don't see the mystery of life and appreciate it. There's no sense of awe, because the answer to anything they don't understand, or won't consider, is their god.

We all have beliefs, some conducive to mental health and some not, but they don't have to be about gods.
