I am not a new widow.

My husband died on March 9th, 11 years ago, to squamous cell cancer.

I have moved forward with my life but I have not forgotten.

Dating as a widow? Possibly, if I were so inclined.

Nothing can stop you. Nothing is stronger than your self. You feel bigger and unbeatable when she/he is next to you.

I have been reading back a few pages and see that it seem the posters are so much younger, but we all have the same hurt and pain!, I was a lurker for a long time, then meet some wonderful people on here, I moved on, meet A lovely man in the groups, to make my story short, we got together, fell in Love, we had close to 2 yrs. of happieness when a sec. stroke took him from me. The Pain is un belivable , I HATE,HATE being alone, I know I will move forward, but at my age, the fear of loseing another! You want to let it out and this is the place if you don't have a close friend that will just let you rant on.

I was being nice, funover. Do you, perchance, believe that your perception and opinion of what "nice" entails is being looked at through rose-colored glasses?

Hillbillymama, I sure understand how horrible it is to be alone in a city where you know no one and where you don't know who or where to go to for support. Try talking to the people at hospice care. They have counselors who can guide you and perhaps help you pursue any benefits you may be entitled to.

It's hard for me to believe you were turned down by the VA, but I don't know how they work, anyway.

My experience here was like Funover's. This group provided the emotional support I wasn't finding in my off-line life. I was alone in a strange city, too. I also lurked and just read for a long while, until I started posting.

Funover, I'm so sorry your happiness was so short-lived.

"I understand your husband died and left you two million dollars.

Can you imagine, two million dollars, and he couldn't even read or write."

"Yeah", she said, "and he couldn't swim either."

HI: This is my first time on here so let me tell you a little about my self. I am 71 live in Euless Texas. If you never heard of Eulees it is about two miles from DFW airport a small town. My wife of 49 years passed away in March of 2013 and is missed so much. Life is to short being alone and would like to find someone to share it with as a friend or more. I am in good health and not bad looking for 71 ha ha. Would like to find someone that likes to travel for I like going on cruises mostly in JAN. For about three weeks or longer for I do not like cold weather. And as a single person on cruises or land vacations the up charge is 50 percent and up from there, and is know fun alone as I went last year alone and seeing everyone with there wife's got me a little down. If you are interested in going or just doing things and live close let me here from you.
A friend to be or more. GENE

Hello, I'm writing this post 01/04/17. I lost my wife of 27yrs 11/16/16. I still hear her calling me into another room. I am constantly looking for her to chit chat with, commenting on something I heard or saw. Every time I'm in a quiet room, driving without stereo on, or just left alone with only the sound of my thoughts, I start crying almost uncontrollably at times. So I don't allow myself any quiet moments. Every inch of me aches. Damn, I'm crying off the hook already. I thought that posting here might help to relieve some pressure, but can tell I'm just making it worse.tks 4 reading, J.W.

I went through death grief counselling.

One does not: lose a loved one; they do not pass away; they are not gone --- they have died. It is a permanent loss.

Acceptance is the key to recovery.

Life continues.

I have attended grief support groups, Vida, after my mother and husband died 33 days apart.

I hope like hell your support group has licensed and certified personnel to work with that group or your group is looking at some major legal liability if any participants bring suit for malpractice against any of you and FaceBook.
