I would have never guessed, seeing your profile picture and all. My dad worked for New Holland, and of course he said their tractors were the best. But at the same time I sensed a mix of envy and respect over what John Deere was putting out.

Normally Deere would get my vote but since they introduced the new R models I'm giving them a thumbs down . That's the worse model they designed in decades,

Yes I Belive Farmall had the best for many years. Starting with the Regular in 1922 or near that then the F20 then The letter series of A,B,C,H,&M Their number series lost out to John Deere with the 3020 & 4020 And JD has held it sence but now things are changing again as JD is likely just to expencive to realy hold that title anymore?
But I do know New Holland is popular as is Case Iternational And today their are names now I know little or nothing about realy.
Just know I am missing the farms of yesterday

We have a new holland and a kubota and don't have much trouble with either but the most reliable piece of equipment on the place Is a 1953 ford 861, starts everytime no matter how cold it is or how long it been since it was last started.

I have a 1978 Allis Chalmers 8050 and a 1997 New Holland 8770. The New Holland is always breaking down whereas the Allis never needs repair. The Allis is more difficult to start in the winter, though...

"my" tractor was the 1964 International 460, narrow front end.
Spent many hours on that. Brothers still have it, because of the narrow front end.
Works great when you need to pack the machinery in the sheds for winter, 3 point hitch and hydraulic bar is a bonus too.

I don't think they have a 'best' tractor, just the best one for your needs. I still love the old 9 and 8Ns, but I like the New Holland Boomer too, and of course the old Massey TO20s and 30s. I still play with the really old stuff, but being realistic, a newer Kubota will do everything they could, and then some. Just depends on what you want and what you have to spend. I don't like the Chinese or Indian tractors much though, I've seen a bunch of them torn up over the last 10 years or so.

Landini (Italian) or a Bullaris (russian) seen both go places that Case and Deere couldn't. That said they are a nightmare to work on

Whatever you buy, MAKE DAMN SURE you can get parts for it first. It's amazing the stuff you can't get, and some of that from recent manufacture as well. Some of the Chinese ones were famous for not having hardened gears that would blow apart under load. I'm assuming over the last few years they've taken care of the quality control issues, but idk.

my opinion is not in the list. it is Massey Ferguson. why, cause I always liked them, even the 200 series. they don't make junk deeres like they used to. i saw a sticker on a 460 farmall that said: "if its green, you either now it or spend or spend it!"

Yes I agree JD is overpriced. That has always been an issue with them.

Unfortunately the quality of Case IH had not been what it should be either. Especially in the mid size tractors. They are not as well built as the old Internationals.

Massey has improved their line quite a bit in the last few years. Good fuel conversion also. That is a big deal nowadays. JD had always had a problem with that also.

We run a lot of the old Internationals.
