Today world wide all cell phones,cable TV,all forms of computers were shut done for a year.
You have basic land line(home phone),US postal, and antenna TV.
Do you think your dating would improve?
My thought are yes, we have done this for years,meeting new people.Social gatherings, etc.
I personally don't need the mind clutter, of whats accepted in 2013 dating world.
Its all starts in a positive smile,and a Hello

Unfortunately your landline is running off of a computer driven switch, or even a totally computer-based system so you wouldn't have that.
The postal service scans and processes the majority of their mail and packages with computers, so you wouldn't have that.
Most of your antenna-based TV is supplied by signals that are coming from satellites, which are computer technology, so you wouldn't have that - as well as your car, some of your home appliances, the control of the power plant that supplies your home, and many other things.
If we lost all that life would take a dramatic turn. There would be much more violence and turf wars, vigilante justice, homeless people, food riots, etc... If you want a taste of it go look at past episodes of the TV show "Revolution".
I understand your idea about physically having to go to the bar, a coffee shop, church, the laundromat, grocery store, etc to find a date - you would get more face time and would really get to know each other better... But it would be a vastly different world!!

Don you maybe right.Seems 40yrs ago.Most had simpler lives,and maybe more money in their pockets. All the expense of just tring to keep up.Eh not worth it,I know I can servive with less.

What an interesting question aladytoo!
We have all this technology right at our fingertips,
..... we’re supposedly more connected to people....
But are we really?
Most of us have cell phones
...so we can be reached
...no matter where we are.
I noticed more people text then talk these days..
and the internet has stretched our horizons
..when it comes to meeting people.
I am lucky in my job I get to interact with people
both on a landline phone(no text) and then in person..
I feel more connected to the customers who do business
with us because of that...and over the years..
some of those people have become friends
Altho' I love my internet
and I think the cell phone is the greatest invention ever
..I also think it stops us from noticing people..
Without those things..
.... we would probably be more aware of the people
we see on our daily journeys!
As for what I would do without those marvelous inventions...
the same thing I do now...
...I talk to strangers..

I think your forgetting that we did use other ways ..Take the CB..Thats how I met my first love.Before that it was someone I meet from school..As life moves on so does the way we do things..Years back meeting some one at a bar was one of the ways people did it..Now a days I hear more don't care for the bar's..No matter how we go about our finding the one is in the form of how we choose..The internet is a tool and how we decide to use that tool can be helpfull or just a waist of time..

whats cable TV? no really if all electronics left for one year this world would be at lost. watching everyone walking around like zombies muttering strange sounds. it would take a year maybe more to detox everyone from it all. thank god i could walk away right now from it all and not worry my life would be much better off for it. all i have is a computer and a cell phone thats it if it goes i have better things to do. this just fills in on rainy days. but if its gone i have books to read. no one calls me anyway so i dont really need a phone.

I find it much easier to meet a girl in person anyways than on here. Or maybe similar sites. This place has pretty much just been entertainment for me. I don't expect anything to happen here in terms if me finding a relationship. And frankly I don't mind that. I enjoy going out in public to meet girls.

There is really no right or wrong answer to the question. I asked mainly for you to think,when we didn't have all the gagets.What I look at how our costs have gone up having all the gizmos,let alone keeping current.
I work from a computer everyday,for research.But tend to be more of a on hands person, to communicate,with clients,only to read their face,personally hear and see expressions,helps me understand what their needs are.And knowing we are on same page.Amazing the new people you meet face to face.Heck with the phone,and sending all communication via/Email.I do realize time is money also.
Dating is no different,as the saying go's it all starts with hello.I personally think our phones, and computers etc can be kept to a mim.
My thoughts here are only for me.

I would not have a way of meeting people.....So it would be even more dead than it already is.....
I'm not sure why you would say you have no means of meeting people.For the most it's simply opening the door,where you live,and walking out.Unless your in jail,instution,or confinded to a bed.
If it's means of transportation, there is cabs,buses,trains.
There are many social events, to attend that doesn't cost a dime,if it's finanical.

If all that happened, all forms of goverment would have problems. They are not working well as it is. I feel the world in some respects would be better. If society were to collaps I already have plans and would survive in the wilds of the backwoods. Now I just need to find a woman that is tough enough to join me.

I would net work just like I always have. That is how my 3 kids found their significant other. If I find someone that would be great but my friends are so good to me that I do OK by my self.
