I always wanted to be a Mad Scientist and even though I have a strong interest in science I do not possess the requisite brain skills in math and yes I have tried many times with remedial courses, tutors and so on. The whole bionic man was a subject of fascination growing up and biomedical research is out and out fascinating.

I'm living it! While I ultimately want to get my Masters in Social Work so that I can become a counselor, I'm currently getting the amazing opportunity to work in the social services field. Being able to share my story with homeless teenagers of my own bad choices, decisions and forced circumstances is an unbelievable experience!

My dream job is to think up and design solutions to problems. I sort of do it now but on a small scale in a limited scope.
I "want" to work on Big and Meaningful problems that have universal application and global scope. Big Picture stuff. If I could get a salary for working on that kind of thing I would be set. I need to get a grant or something.
Back here in reality, no such job exists and there is no value in it. Imagining that kind of work is an expression of my personal interest. In reality, people like to compete and win more than anything else, which is why the so-called problems exist, and why problems are not to be solved.
I never grew up enough to switch from the family life outlook of childhood to the big bad world outlook of adulthood. In a family, you all work together and help out, so everyone does OK. Then as adults in the big bad world, to provide for your own family, you compete with other adults. It is more important to win for your family, than it is to work together with others trying to all be one big family.
If people couldn't treat each other as enemies, nothing about adult life would make any sense, and none of the best feelings available to adults could happen. Men need war or they would be women. Women need men to compete with each other or there wouldn't be a winner, which is the only kind of man a woman can want.
Complaining about problems is how people compete. Solving problems would rob humanity of its essential meaning. Having problems is what life is. It's OK to solve little problems here and there, as long as nothing gets in the way of cultural mayhem itself.
You asked about a dream job...right? That's my dream. I daydream solutions whenever I consider problems. It's a reflex. At work I solve small problems, helping other people make money so they can win out over their competitors. Then I give my extra money to poor people, who lost out in the competition we call the economy. It works out in a sort of soul crushing way.
