Talk.... Because when you text it has lost the feelings of the person that is sending you the message. When you talk (for the most part) you can hear a persons voice change when they want to put more emphineses on a certain word or words and that can change the complete meaning of what is being said.

Texting has killed many as well.... When you talk on phone it is so much more personal

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot stand talking on the phone. I find it annoying and I'm much too busy to sit and talk for a long conversation. I rather talk in person or text. Just my preference.
My thoughts exactly...

Depends on the conversation. Text to discuss what's for dinner. Call to talk about what the kids have been doing while I am gone. And in person when we are discussing discrepancies in the bank account.

Being a shy guy I like to text a bit first to break the ice then to talk or just meet for dinner or something . Helps to have things to talk about if you text a bit first.

I always prefer talking to texting. The human voice is far more expressive and personal that a couple dozen characters in text-speak.
Next to talking face-to-face, I like talking over the phone or Skype. Next come e-mail. For me, text is my least favorite method of communication ... except for "talking through lawyers".

For the most part, I prefer texting. It seems like I never have the time to just sit down and have a conversation, and i know the other person's probably busy too. It's much easier to just send a text.
For some things, it's just easier to talk, and I understand that. Also, at some point, it's nice to finally hear the other person's voice, but by then, it's probably about time to meet face to face, anyway.
Maybe I just like to text as a way of taking things a little slower, too. Once you start talking to each other frequently, then it feels like you're escalating the relationship a little bit.

Phones were made for a reason>communication.
Based on my age, we didn't have texting,we had a dial phone to say hello and make arrangements to meet,at a place and time.Or if their was change of plans.Phones in general has damaged face to face communication.

Texting seems completely impersonal to me. Yes, people get a little more bold and say things they are too shy to say on the phone but a voice is REAL, the breathing, the inflections, the delays, the laughter-yes, the laughter. As if "LOL" imparts the same joy, excitement and spontaneity that a quiet chuckle or an immediate belly-laugh does.
To each their own, but a typed line of illiterate jibberish just doesn't do it for me.

I like both. Depending on where I am. At work. I can sometimes talk. But can usually get a short text in back and forth. But I like to hear a voice. It is so much more personal. But with all the technology I think as a society, we in general have lost the art of real communication. I have seen couples text or FB back and forth while they are sitting side by side. Why not just Talk to each other????

I like both, but prefer talk on phone if not in person. There can be a lot of misunderstanding with txt. The newest is kik so you don't have to give out phone#, I had it never got to try it. Not enough memory on phone, used space for more important app.

I agree with the earlier statements it really depends on the situation, and how urgent the topic is. If it is important by all means talk. By phone or by phone it is the same. If the reply is not time constrained, then text should be fine.

Yeah, I talk enough at work. Seems like my phone is to my ear much of my work day.
The last thing I usually wanna do is sit on the phone. But I understand most prefer it, just as long as it's not hours. Or even longer than a few minutes...

It all depends on the situation and who I'm trying to communicate with. If I'm @ work or in an awkward situation, I text but if I'm trying to get to know someone or I have a lengthly conversation, I prefer talking.
I don't have time to keep texting.. A 20 minute conversation with texting will only take 2 minutes on the telephone.. only makes sense to talk unless you are unable to.

srector68: I totally agree! I want to know that the person wanting to know my phone number is a real person in the states and near me. I don't give my number any more when someone asks for it. I tell them to give me theirs and I will call them. Most will not.
truckdriver007: I agree with you as well. I can't READ emotion in a text. I can HEAR it though through the phone.
For me, I'll text first to get to know a little about someone and weed out the scammers and then when they want a number I will ask if they have webcam for visual chat through Yahoo, that way I can see if they are actually the person in the photo and it is a good way to see the person before a meet up. There is also Tango for cell phones where one can chat with another and still see their face for both parties and it is free.
smokincigars mentioned Skype. I have never used it but know that some people do.
zinkcat: Me, over a year. 90% scammers.
I met ONLY one face-to-face in a year. Nice guy but was already in a relationship. No thanks.
So now, I weed people out quickly and move on. Who knows, I just may find someone who is real, in the US, lives near me, looks like his profile photo, and speaks English. I don't mind being patient.
