It is funny over the decades how things change. When TV first came out...oh! A 13 inch screen. Waay better than that 5 inch one! And cars were not all that big. And then we got bigger and bigger. The dream was the 22 foot long 59 Cadillac that held the record for length. BMW came out with the Isetta and it was the laughing stock of the car world. And TV's got bigger. Til todays 42-92 inch flat screens. And people buy vans and SUVs. And now in the 21st century. The Smart car is the one people want. Makes the Isetta look large. And people are peering into Smart phones and watching TV on 5 inch screens and bragging! I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too old!!

When I was 9, parents and I walking down street in town...and a new shining convert drove past. I stopped dead, turned and stared! And made up my mind that one day I would own that car...59 Cadillac. When I was 19, married and bought a coupe 59. It was long and sleek with tail fins to the moon. White with red leather. And no way one could EVER sit on that trunk without glue! It had automatic headlight dimmer...NO! THAT is a street light..I want brights. BRIGHTS! brights...ARGH!! And air level suspension. Now Ford tried that in 57 and it didnt work. Guess what Cadi..IT STILL DOESNT! Acutally, the air bag canisters were rusting out. So in the morning, she was bagged. Hit the auto raise it up to change tire.Good now is 3 feet in the air. And head off to town. Lean to left front corner. Ok..nose in air. Whole side down...sigh.... I gave up parallel parking with that car. Unless I went to town at 7 am and had the whole street to park in. I loved the car and it hated me. Seemed it always wanted to dump me in the ditch. So sold my dream car to a guy in Chicago. Both bullets were rusted off and the bottom back inner fenders. He checked along the whole car..EXCEPT the rear. whew!!! Said he wanted parts for his convert but would change and do coupe..better shape! Hate to think what HIS convert looked like! I told the car if you EVER do anything for me in our life together..GET OUT OF THE YARD!!! He got a few feet and she SANK! Husband raced down, opened door and yanked air lift. Guy is ????Hubby said it will be ok now and he left. Was going to send me pics when she was restored. I never heard from him. Think it ditched and killed him halfway there. Never imagined that car would be one of the top collectable cars. Still love the look. Buy one again...uh uh!!!

The mid to late 50 were great for car people. great styling good performance ( for the times ).
One of my favorites even tho I'm a ford lover was the olds 88.
I always liked them too..........Despite their size, they were pretty fast with a J-2 engine and tri-power.......

If I recall properly , I think it was a 1938, plymouth, we kids would ride around in.
Was in pretty good shape ,if we could start it!! LOL
We had to push and keep her runnin'.
Well one day the gravel road was flooded ,and of course it didn't look deep
It drowned.

Husband was driving an Olds stationwagon when we were dating and first together. A 70? 71? Nice big car with the sunroof. Sold it off. I would hate to change the back window glass on that white olds. Be a time to get them to all set in nice and easy.

When my ex and I burned out and junked cars..I got the copper and diecast. Nothing beat an old Buick. The grill, handles and more were all diecast. Could go around with a mall and get pounds of it in 10 minutes. They never skimped on metal on those babies. We junked over 400 in those years together. Shame we didnt know what some of those cars would be worth today. Good old hindsight.

I think BUll in THAT car would have to have 12 people available to pry him OUT of it. LOL. Joe called and said he went to the garage and started his truck up and let it run. Too cold to work down there. I havent gone near mine. Should charge the battery up that is sitting in the basement all winter. My efforts are moving furniture in the LR so I can get more floor cleared to use to do projects. Method to housework!

Ok guys in the know. I ran across a booklet I had. It is 1939 International Truck ads. There are several sheets to it. Each one is a page to cut apart for newspaper ads. 2,3 and 4 column sizes. They range from pickup to semi, half to deuce. These were sent to dealers who ran print ads. All they needed to do was give the newspaper the prepared ad to run. I took pics to sell it. And have no idea for price. It would appeal to someone owning a 39 IH. Or who did paper advertising. Or printing. the reason it exists is due to a lady who used the white backs to draw patterns for embroidery. These do NOT show through to the fronts and have not ruined the ads. Help?

Yep. Fore runner to the econo boxes of today. Nash came out with a similar design to the Hudson. Where called bathtubs on wheels. But, Hudson was gorgeous and Nash comical. Hey girls..looks like we took over the garage. All the boys must be hung over from green beer. Now we can CLEAN! And sort. Carbs on this shelf, that muffler can go in the dumpster. Shake that catalytic converter. Here that is how you tell if they have platinum in them and junk for a fortune. Waste of metal too me..out to be rings and things. Take the shop vac..it will suck up all those loose screws....

Sears sold the Henry J (with a few small differences, such as name badges, etc) and called it the Sears Allstate. Kaiser's idea of a way to mass market his cars.

Kaiser/Frasier and the Henry J were similar in looks. I remember when I was first married to my ex and we junked a 50s chevy. I sat inside and ????What happened to the visor and armrest. He told me that if you wished to save cash, you bought the cheap model without options. And the passenger did not get a visor, rest OR WIPER blade on that side of the car. I see some cars in the late past were getting about that bad. Hubby and I joked...base price on car is 10K. OH!!! You wanted an engine, seats, hood, trunk lid and glass?!! Those are options!

That policy followed into the 60's with Detroit's new Compacts.....
The cheapest models had no arm rests and no passenger side sun visor.....
I have several Parts Department GM/Chevy passenger side sun visors in the original factory boxes for 1960 Corvairs..... The cheapest model 2 door coupes did not even have back seat windows that would roll down. I have one of those in my Pole Barn that I bought from an estate in Missouri. No radio, no arm rests, no roll down windows, no cigarette lighter. Single speed wiper with no washer. The only options the old granny ordered on it was an automatic tranny and backup lights.

Wow. I know dad ordered his wagons with no power..he didnt like the feel of it. Still have the Rebel...armstrong steering. He also didnt like power windows so cranks. He did get a radio though...for drive into Chicago when he had to deliver an order. Had another thought..........oh well...it is gone...sigh.......
HA..now I remember....went into the mountains in the back seat of friends new bettle bug. And realized...no opening windows. Uh...owner Bill told us..no worrys..he and HIS wife could bail out. He had to crack a window to close the door. So air tight it popped ears otherwise and had to slam otherwise.I know I heard of a guy who got into the river...panic..hmm, lets see...and!!!! It floated! He drifted til got onto shore and drove back out.

Dads/my 59 ford wagon was white and green. He wanted blue and mom nixed it..fades. Neighbor got the bug and bought a ford wagon the next year, light blue. Dad was mad. But in 3 years, the blue was almost white and the green looked the same so mom got to do the told you so. I wish they would go back to building good old station wagons. They were the best all round car ever made. The idiots skirt all around them with SUVs, crew cabs, mini-vans. Just built a dang FULL size WAGON!

My dad had a 59 ford ranch wagon in light blue. Didn't keep it long because it was armstrong steering and my 5 foot mama couldn't park it.
I did one of my bikes in that shade of green. Actually, it was 92 GM Teal greem with 55 Chrysler Mint green scallops. Show quality paint done by my buddy "The Wizard" out of Western Wisc. Shoulda kept that one. Traded to my new brother-in-law for my sister's 66 Plymouth Satellite which I still own. My beautiful black b*tch. (The Plymouth, not my sister)

I just have patches in shaded areas left. Never did get that much on the farm. I am contemplating backing the car out tomorrow if it rains as hard as they say. Econo carwash? LOL. Boarder needs to get his car and van to a town 20miles away to switch the interlok. I already have the title transferred on his van into my name. The guy he is buying the car from will deliver it up there prior. Wants me to go up and drive the van home. I am a b-i-t-c-h tho. I said that van is illegal now. If I get stopped..wrong plates (his) not licensed by me, not insured. UH-UH! Let it sit til other guy can drive it. Then can play dumb...oh..delivering it..didnt realize she transferred title already. And me..oh? I didnt think it would transfer that quickly if called. They said they would deliver it. bat, bat..

But..... looks like oldest daughter is giving Mr Wonderful his walking papers.
He just went through "spin dry" at the VA.....
But he just sh*t on her once too often.....
Not a cheat, but a mean drunk.....
He thinks all should be well now that he dried out.....
But she has had 5 weeks of peace with him in the program and decided she likes it.....
So Bub will be back to Day Care Grampa.....
He is on full disability from Army for PTSD from Mogodishu.....
He was one of the paramedics that went in after the downed choppers.....
