The "proud and noble symbol of the west" will surround a cow during birth and start killing the calf while it half way out. If the calf has a quick and mean mother and is born alive, it usually dies of starvation a day latter because its swollen mouth and nose prevents it from eating.

Lets strive to keep the coyotes population in check and prevent them from harming farmers livelyhood. In turn the farmer can raise more affordable food for humans.

Well, the very least you can do would be to preserve their heads on fence posts.

coyotes have really populated in the forest of west virginia in the last 20 yr. or so, the department of natural resources are giving us a bull shit story, that the coyotes migrated to wv.. from western states where they are native. well i find it strange, that they did not migrate to west virginia until the last 20 yr. i believe the department of natural resources stocked them here in the state, and now they are a real nusiance.

When I was living in Wash State back in the early 70's, I knew a guy who had two trained Grayhounds. Them dogs would work as a team to kill coyotes. One dog would chase and the other would circle around and hit the coyote sideways at full speed and damn near rip it in two.The farmers paid that guy a lot of money for his dogs work.

Semper Fi !!!

Earlier this year, while going to work at 1130pm, I had a coyote run out in front of me. Yes, it was a thrilling sight. Two bounces to cross the road and wide shoulders.

However, I don't care to see them around the area. They have moved in and populated the area. This has been going on for at least 10-15 years. They have dens around the edges of the fields and in the wooded areas. They have no fear of coming onto the yard at night, see the tracks all over. Wonder how long before they start after the cattle in the pens, easy pickins for them. Even had skunks move up onto the yard instead of staying in the woods and pasture.

We keep their population in check because, they eat mice and rabbit. Those alone wreck tons of hay every year.

Same reason we don't kill bull snakes. The one that haunts our granary measured 4'3".

When coyotes population gets out of control, they eat cats and other dogs. A coyote will go out of it's way to kill domestic dogs. Domestic dogs are the best coyote lure bar none. Train the dog to run out about 50' from where you are set up and start your distress call. The coyotes come in fluffed up so big, they look double in size.

Ummm, yeah, come preserve them at my farm.
I produce miniature cattle, the calf's birth weights are 20-22 lbs so you can imagine how attractive these are to coyotes and wild dogs-these losses cost me an average of $2,000 a year. Go ahead, twist this into being "my fault" for what? Raising your food for you? Doing the job you can't/won't/are "too good for"?
Oh, coyotes are such noble creatures. So proud, independent and angelic. Second only to Unicorns in their majesty.
So, YES, come preserve them.
I don't care if you can them, make them into jerky or smoke them.
Save the airbrushed posters of wolves and coyotes for the urban lemmings that want to tell each other how majestic these cowardly and predatory canines really are.
Next time coyotes kill a half-born calf and it's Mother on my farm (they attack and kill while the cow is birthing), you can come reimburse me for the loss. Don't forget to clean up the mess.

Coyotes are survivors. They have adapted to climate, range, and even control their numbers according to food supply. Good years they have many pups, bad years they have less. Control thier number of male/female pups so plenty of females to carry on the genetics. Countries with wild areas even if a small draw or wooded hollow behind a subdivision are perfect habitats.

They moved into KY about 20 years ago and have taken over. Can hear them around 8 or 9 PM winding up, yipping, yapping for their nightly prowl. 15 minutes of yapping, then shut off like turning off a radio. That's when you watch the sky line because they are out hunting.

Symbol or no symbol of the old west, coyotes are cold blooded killers in my book! I will kill one any chance I get! I lost several adult Suffolk ewes, not to mention the newborn babies they have carried off! I live in Indiana and I can imagine what is is like out west! I ended up getting a mother/daughter pair of Great Pyrenees to keep them at bay along with trapping a few and boy did I enjoy seeing them (coyotes) caught in the trap! (Paybacks are hell coyotes, exspecailly from me!) I never got to see my Great Pyrenees team after any coyotes but neighbors reported two white dogs (my girls, Amily and Lily) giving some coyotes a run for their life like they never had before! I just wished I could have seen it and I wished just one of those coyotes would have stumbled and seen what it was like to have death stare them in the face, just like what they (the coyotes) did tos those innocent newborn lambs and my adult ewes! Call lme what you like but I call it getting even and I'm not even close to getting even, so coyotes beware!

We have coyotes in the outskirts of the city. Without them the deer, rabbits, squirrels and other animals explode out of control. My sister lost most of her garden and tried everything to keep deer and rabbits out without avail.
If you have to remove them, do it humanely. Learn how to shot and kill properly and learn the breeding season so not to leave orphans behind. Anyone who inhumanely traps any animal or makes it suffer, is a monster in my eyes. Torturing and killing animals is how many people who turn to killing other people, start out.

Animals don't have the capacity to understand that they are killing something inhumanely, they are just surviving. People do and need to act accordingly.

Coyotes make great targets, they are also fun as hell when being chased through the desert with a dirt bike. There is NO shortage of coyotes and at best they are a pain in the butt.

Here is one little girl who will never be a friend of the coyote:

A 3-year-old girl was attacked by a coyote while walking with her parents in Silverado Park in Irvine Ca on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Equinox and Silverado in Irvine, according to Farrah Emami with the Irvine Police Department. Girl suffered superficial wounds, and was treated at a local hospital and released. Officials were still searching the neighborhood for the coyote. Kacey Montoya reports for the KTLA 5 News at 10 on Friday, May 22, 2015.

They have come into my yard to the point I take my shotgun out to my garden area. It's fenced in but them critters are crazy here in my area. Several have tested positive for rabies, and I refuse to chance my grand daughter, dogs or myself.

They have killed a lot of things on my farm over the years. They have coast me many 1,000s each year in just water melons They walk through the fields and spend fungus and eat the melons
the best way to kill them out is to find someone that had puppies that died from parvo and put them out where they walk it will wipe them out for miles around

The fox hunters brought them in to north west Florida back in the late 80s
