I found the new ad series to be entirely bizarre.
If I ran KFC, I would never have allowed it to go forward. They've parodied themselves, without making it clear that they know that they are doing so. So it's almost as though the company is taking a dump on their own founder for the sake of cheap laughs.
The comedian who plays the colonel, has been around a long time, and I don't begrudge him the work. he's a nice enough fellow. But the ad concept is indeed, well described as "creepy."

Glad I am not alone. He resembles the original Colonel about as much as Rosie O'donel would! Sad and an insult. Comes off like some caricature. I remember the original got so ticked off at the chain that bought him out, he refused to do the ads anymore. He said that is not how he created KFC and didn't like the direction it had gone. They told him part of the contract he signed when he sold, stipulated he would continue to do the commercials and if he thought he could bow out..they would sue him. So he was forced to make more ads. Good old Corporate America. Greed and nothing more. Ruins a man's dream. I buy from a local grocery store now..not soaked in cup grease so no indigestion like KFC. Plus nuts to pay a buck for a chicken wing.
I noticed they took the girl Wendy off. I thought..not a good spokes woman even if she WAS the real Wendy. The image she showed with being overweight rather said..see what you will end up looking like if you eat Wendy's food? My ex lived on Wendy's. Died of a heart attack at 53!

^^^^ I always had respect for him,I didnt really know why,but he had a respectable "presence" about him and that just tells me my feelings were correct. If only MORE business owners had that kind of honor and integrity,instead of bypassing safety standards in the name of profitability I honestly think that,while the immediate profits may go down a bit,in the long run,the rewards of practicing such standards would far out weigh the "cost".

That fits lots of commercials. We have one running local for Stanton Optical. They have an woman spokes person who used to be the news gal til she got older and heavier. Now she does segments on the news. So..this ad is HI,My name is ____ ____ and I love Stanton Optical. I worked in radio for years. A rule is NEVER let an ad get stale. This damn ad has been running for OVER ONE YEAR! It is becoming a joke with people ...HI..my name is! Who is the idiot who keeps it running. There are commercials that are clever, beautiful, entertaining...and then there are the rest! Colonel Sanders was a left over of the old South. He was dignified and believable. This guy is a joke and insults the Colonel's memory. The copy writer totally missed the point.

I dont think turning the Colonel into a comedic clown is the way to attract people to the product. My feelings are..oh...you think eating Colonel chicken is comical? Of course, most ads these days are made to appeal to the young and dumb. To elders who knew the real guy and what he stood for, it is insulting. And like above..grocery store makes better. At least I dont have to choose between indigestion grease or not. KFC is a case of just how suffering is it worth to eat it.

The original Col. Sanders provided meals to the cast and crew on Herschel Gordon Lewis gore films in the 60's and 70's in exchange for advertisment in the movie. He even nade a cameo in one. He was a businessman, think he'd appreciate the homage, especially from someone who is famous for portraying presidents.

since people raised such hell about the confederate flag,it really surprises me that a well known company like KFC decided to use a spokesman who is a symbol of the exact thing that people have become so outspoken against,which is the antebellum south.
