Passion, I have a question for you. When you are out and about on the town and you see a girl that you like and you want to get her attention, do you whistle at her and get upset that she is not running to you with open arms? Probably not, right? You probably take a few minutes to come up with something clever to say to get her attention. Am I right?? Why online communication should be any different??? Sending a wink to someone is almost like whistling. Many women do not find it cute and they CLEARLY state that in their profiles. The least that a man (or a woman for that matter) could do is to read the other person's profile and act accordingly. Just show some respect.

Hot--- the problem is that "Wink" does not necessarily equal "hi" or "hello." And... like the other women, I agree that when we start getting winks, return winks, then return winks to our return winks... it gets to be just pure silliness.
You can say "Hi" in an email too.... in addition to anything else on your mind.

Mr P is right. It takes a lot out of you to send an email. You want to be accurate and appealing and inticing and when you spend 10 minutes getting it together and get no reply, it is more efficient to send a wink, which to me is a prequalifier. It means if I email you, chances are you will reply and I won't be wasting my best stuff.
About the bios...If you've read one you've read most of them. Quiet walks in the park, wine and a fire and antiques and jeans a t-shirts and so on and so forth.
Many men give better bio. Divorced, available like 3-somes, big Eagles fan.
Get to the point.

Sandbagger--- The women are telling you they would appreciate a different way of communicating.
If it's too much effort for a man to email, then it's just too much effort and sends a subtle message to women that the "Winking only" guy is probably lazy in relationships. We'd at least like someone who exhibits a pulse.

Well it doesn't bother me a bit I get winks every day from some of the same ladys and I think its kind of cute and I always wink back and from what your saying if you walk by someone everyday you would get tired of them saying hi to you after a while because they are nice for doing it everyday I think thats whats wrong with this world today.

Hot--- read the posts above... we said we understand and welcome winks from our friends and people we see regularly in the forums. In that sense, it's understood that it's probably intended to mean "hi" or "hello."
In the other scenario described, it's a request from the women for better communications on a personal level. Do you think that is too much to ask?

Ladies I agree for the most part. If I receive a Wink and there is no picture and an imcomplete profile - I Delete it. But if I get a wink, read the profile, and am curious will respond with a short email of interest.
Guys if you want us to respond send a short message, it doen't have to be pulitzer prize winning piece. Show that you have read the profile.
Sandbagger: I understand it is frustrating to put the time in, then not get a response, but if you stop putting the time in, that one, that special person you've been looking for might be missed.
And as to women's profiles all being the same... I beg to differ. Just as not all men's profiles are not the same. There are some truely well written, well thought out, and entertaining profiles posted. JMO.

Bravo Stella!!
Guys, you're not getting it are you? Are you going to turn around next and complain because women never respond to you? We're telling you that winks are annoying! If you want someone's attention, find something, anything, in their profile and write a quick email. If you can't be bothered to show that much interest, why should we bother to write back?
My profile states that I'm here for the forums, not dating. It also states that I will not reply to a wink or IM request from someone I don't already know. It goes on to say that if you do either of these things I will know that you didn't bother to read my profile and I will happily ignore you! Guess how many winks and IM requests I get each day!
