What a nice thing to say! I work out daily, have for many years, and have practiced yoga since I was 15. However,
time and gravity have me in their grip, now have arthritis and notice I get winded on those steep beach hikes!

Neither of the above suggestions.It is because we old ones are not ready to give up and pack it in as yet. Most are you know. a lot of us still enjoy having fun and life in general. Not sitting in a rocking chair and rocking life away. Sorry not all young men are responsible. I have found a very few ( friends only) and have a great time. But as far as sex goes. A few old guys cam still function in a top notch way. It is always the individual.

I now prefer younger men (44-50). It has nothing to do with either of your two suggestions. I find younger men are not as jaded by the world as men in my age bracket. They still have a positive outlook on life plus the initiative and drive to live it.
In my case I had younger men pursue me for over a year before I gave in and started dating them. I have learned that younger men like older women because of our maturity and lack of mental/emotional games. Older women also have an attitude towards life that younger men appreciate and younger women have not yet learned.
Of course I am sure there are plenty of exceptions to all of the above. I am just speaking from my own experiences.

I see that for some women it may be about sex. This is not true for all women. I am of the belief, with most of us women it is so MUCH more. The younger men I have had the wonderful opportunity of knowing, have a zest for life that most older men have lost. The mental attitude & behavior of younger men is more youthful and vibrant, this is very appealing to us women who are not "mentally old". The zest for life and living is one of the most attractive assets any man or woman can bring to the table.

I have found younger men to be more open sexually.  They enjoy toy shopping as well.  They're able to go hours on end.  Seems older guys are tired before you every get started. Sadly with most older guys you get one chance at a time.

Neither of the above. As a single-never-married woman, I would prefer to find a man who is also single-never-married. Most guys my age are divorced. Many already have children and don't want any more. I still want to have children, if I can. A never-married man who wants children, usually means a younger man.

It could be a little bit of both, but men do the same thing--in fact more so than women. Yet men often have to "buy" younger women.
For me, it depends on how much younger they are than me, and their level of maturity. If I'm looking for a relationship, I want a mature guy, and believe me, some of the older guys aren't all that mature either.
I just want to make sure we have the same level of interests so we at least know what we're talking about. A much younger guy comes from an almost different culture, and neither of us might appreciate each other's interests. A much younger guy might be interested in a lot of partying, which I'm not.
A much younger guy would be a risk in a relationship, as he would compare me to younger women, and sooner or later he would be gone--or else cheating.
Unless I had a lot of money.

I have the east coast accent and since I've been in cali I actually get hit on more by the 35 to 45 crowd than I do by women in their 20s.... that never happened back home... but the older wmen here in valencia are by far more attractive to the older women in boston.... sometimes its hard to say no....but I could never mess with a married woman... its bad karma

Let me use my last four dates as examples: The two older guys both showed up with alcohol on their breath. Very obnoxious. One talked about how he hated to spend more than $40 on a date. The other one told me was tan all over except his "junk". (TMI,Dude. First date.) Then he lifted my shift when we left the resturaunt to check out my ass. Not nice.
The two younger guys were both war vets. Very gentlemanly and sweet. Made overtures but I can't consider them as anything more then friends. They're just too young for me. It is exactly as Alice said. Women like us still have a lot of life within us and we want the same in a man. For some reason, the men our age seem to age more quickly, are just plain tired and no longer have much spark and desire - for much of anything. Active women still have so much more to offer than just having a tidy home and a good TV.

Perhaps a mention should be made as to an age difference rather than simply being 'younger'. It would help understand the responses.
When I was in my early 20s I came into a phase where I met and dated women 20-30 years older than me. It was enlightening, fun and 'educational'. After that phase I had improved my skills and understanding with women closer to my own age. Also I think deep down each of us knew the relationship was temporary and that made it even nicer compared to the pressures of dating someone in my own age group with our social dilemmas. In those days they weren't called cougars. Most were simply divorced women that had the means to get what they wanted and the times (perhaps like now) were understanding in that it was unconventional but accepted.
Now I am back into dating and I have dated some women a couple of years older to about 5 years older (their 50s) and there might be some diffs in our musical tastes and such but still it can be fun. To some degree each of us has seen a lot of life and remember the freer times when sex was fun. To them I'm younger and function much better than guys 5-10 years their senior. To them I feel very appreciated for my enthusiasm and I am not looked upon as the provider I lived for so long as the husband - and we don't look mismatched when we go out in public (I won't date 20-somethings like some guys I know) - so it is the best of all worlds. Just as it has always been - it's mostly about attitude and appearance not about some calendar age.
