1. In the open (no tent).
2. Tenting all the way.
3. Pop-up Trailer.
4. Travel Trailer.
5. Motor Home.
6. Got to have a "Prevost".

This thread runs parallel to the "tent vs camper" thread and is intended to supplement that thread - it just makes counting easier.

Paul.

Almost all of the above! Truly it depends on the season, location, and conditions; so here it goes:
1. Open air during the Summer and fishing those backwoods creeks.
2. Tenting when the weather forecast is 60-40 towards precipitation.
3. Motor home when the grand children need a place to sleep until they are 5 y.o.
4. Cozy cabin when every breath you take will add another mm of ice to your mustache.

Anything beyond these conditions, you might as well stay home and study the "Honey-do" list.

All of the above.........it really depends on weather and

the conditions of where you will be camping...

A cabin in the woods does sound pretty good...cooking the fish

over an open fire...

I have camped in "no frills" areas, tent camps, just slept in a bunkhouse at Camp Coast Care in Mississippi at a "katrina" project. I am off to choir practice which has nothing to do with the subject, but... I have never camped in a pop-up, travel trailer, motor home and do not know what a "prevost" is. So there..... Pat

Mainly because I have no #3, #4, or #5. Perhaps someday. Haven't done it in the open since I was a kid. 'Roughing it' is great but even cavemen had enough sense to have something over their heads.

The tent is all I've ever known and is good enough for me. The 4 season tents give you all you need for as long as you'd like to camp. But I still dream of someday owning a Pop-up trailer, Travel trailer, or Motor home. Will still take my tent with me.

Depends on the season, the weather and the location. Have bivied in the desert, used an ultralight canoeing and backpacking and set up the "taj mahal" as a base camp for extended stays. Never use a cot though- I like the ground.

Mostly in a tent or in the open but I do have an old beater camp trailer we take elk hunting but that is because of the wet weather. Did a new one last week. I helped a friend get his gear into his alaska trapline. We stayed on his boat. This was a island only way there was by float plane or boat. After all day in that weather it was sure nice to get somewhere dry and somewhat warm.

backpacking is keen for forest/winter camping. When it comes to the desert, I go car camping. Deserts aren't that fun for hikes, and winds can get overwhelming.

A tent does me just fine, I don't think I'd ever go more basic than that unless it's in a survival situation.

I'd like to get a slide-in camper. But then I'd have to get a big enouph truck to put under it. So for now, I'll just have to settel for my tent.

I have done most of the first three in my younger days. Rode motorcycles, so tents were the thing to carry or lean toos, open air, etc. But this day and time, I prefer a travel trailer or motor home. I have the truck but have not managed to get a travel trailer. Anyone got one they want to share? I really don't know if I could handle a trailer by myself. I have a tent and mattress now that I have taken on motorcycle adventures but not much. I ride with another lady and she prefers motels. I would enjoy having a toyhauler for the bike.

In the open is best, enjoying the stars and wildlife near a campfire.
Got to be practical, though, I have 2 girls and one is so "girly" she can't survive without a tent minimum and electricity and showers.
I have high hopes for the other, though maybe she'll be a nature lover like me.

If the rain's out, I'll take a tent or a tarp, but otherwise the whole blanket of the Milky Way is my nightlight.

I haven't been camping since I was a teenager. I do love the outdoors. I also enjoy all comforts in life. I can go with the flow but wouldn't chose a tent. Since you've given all these options, I guess I would be foolish not to choose the prevost.

Because I am a full-time RVer, I live in the trailer year 'round; home is wherever I park it.

The old one was well enough insulated that I could easily maintain 75° inside when it was -10° outside. When winter comes, I'll find out if this one is as well insulated.

There are times when I go Camping with a tent, sleeping bag and a one-burner camp stove. When I do that, my usual transportation is my canoe.

I traded a 1977, 25 ft. Coachmen bunkhouse and a few K-Bucks for it.

I got a really good deal on it. I used the "Bohemian Easy Payment Plan" (100% down and no monthly payments).

The dealer even let me stay in his "campground" for a few days while I moved all my stuff from the old trailer to the new one. I found stuff I thought I had lost YEARS ago.

I'm still unpacking boxes and finding places to keep stuff.

I prefer tents just because I keep one with me pretty much at all times whether I'm biking, or kayakin', or playin in the mud....

Have a pop-up but only use it for the nascar races....don't think I've slept in it yet. Yea once when it was rainin in Michigan,

Travel trailer's are nice but how do ya pull a big boat also.?

In a few---i'm walking up to the field where my motorhome is parked---take some liquid refreshment--and camp-out for the weekend---free camping-I have power there-so the reefer is cold and tv, or the Net is available--I have wi-fi here at the house.and the connection is good enough for it to work way up there.
Have a great weekend all.

1. In the open (no tent).
No thank you , it might rain , its cold , plus you never know what might be next to you when you wake

2. Tenting all the way !!! easy of use , cost , storage , can be use anywhere
See above and below

3. Pop-up Trailer.
Its a mix of the two , trailer and and tent , but you need a place to store it , keep and tag on it , tires

4. Travel Trailer = some of the above problems , cost of gas( if a big one )

5. Motor Home = same as above , when repairs are needed $$$$$$

6. Got to have a "Prevost". THE COST

Using a tent for camping can keep your cost down. Its easy to use , to store. Don't need a big rig to haul. Sure you can get wet if its rain , but that means you "failed" to maintain it or simply set it up in the wrong place .
