I am at a stage in my life that I feel it may be "too late" for me. I often wonder if I will be alone for the rest of my life. Allthough I have met alot of friends through this site, there was one guy in particular that I thought had great potential. We talked and IM'd many times over a 4 month period. He was the most geniune person I have ever met. Everything about him was what I wanted, and needed at this stage of my life. Then one day I went to his profile and it was deleted. I was beyond shocked. I IM'd him on his personal address, and he explained that he had gone to match.com. A pay site that I do not belong to. It was then that I realized he did not feel the same way about me--I was not concidered by him as a true potential. I was devastated. He was "moving on" and I am truly hoping that he finds somone great--he deserves it.
But this whole situation got me thinking "is it too late for me?" I often use the lyrics from a Led Zeppelin song to describe to others how I fell about my possibilities of finding someone: "I walk the night alone". I have been single for many years now, and i believe i will be alone forever. Is it ever too late?

I've been single for 18 years and at times I feel like I may spend the rest of my life alone....but I don't worry about it...I'm ok being alone.

I find as I get older, I get pickier and have less patience for what I don't want. I feel being single beats being miserable with someone else.

Single is awesome and so is partnership.
If you spend your single time in a place that
is constantly longing and wishing for a partner,
then you will miss out on much growth. Being
single again is an opportunity to expand, take
risks, get to know yourself under different
circumstances. I know, my next relationship
will overshadow any previous. Never, ever too
late.

You are only 41. You are an attractive women in the prime of your life. I understand your frustration though, because Louisville does not offer single people around our age much to do.

Never too late.. all about attitude. If I knew that being single the rest of my life would help everyone on this site, I would take the hit. I have read a lot of forums and see what people are going through. Not sure how many people read and see what that person is going through. Anyways.. keep your head up.. Things work out the problem is you never know when but hey that is what makes it special.

i agree with you all that say it is better to be alone than be with someone who makes you unhappy. sometimes the most alone a person could ever feel is being with someone who you are incompatable with. i have been sinlgle for eight years now. ther are things about being single that are great--you are the king of your own castle, you can come and go as you please, and you only have yourself to answer to. i have never been married, and sometimes i love it. it just that i miss the affection and the companionship. it gets very lonely sometimes.

no , I don't think it can ever be too late. Funny thing is friends and family are so scared and pushed so much for me to be in a relationship. I let people push me before and it was a mess, so I go at my own speed. I'd encourage you to stay happy and be open to new expierences. Do things you enjoy. I wish you luck in finding Mr. Truely Right. Sorry things didn't work out with the other guy.

i truelly believe its not too late for you. love doesn't know time limits or age limits. although i am younger than you by far, i know this to be true. you will find someone and when you do it'll be forever. you might have to wait and kiss the toads before the real guy appears but its worth it.
