There are women for whom stable finances are not a consideration. If you haven't encountered any yet in your life, I'm pretty sure you don't know how to recognize one.
I have encountered some, and breathe a sigh of relief when I find out they don't expect a man to be a cash cow for them. They just seem to be in the minority. More often I encounter an attitude of entitlement - they are seeing me so they are entitled to free dinners, movies, rides, shopping trips, ect. If I refuse or ask them to pay half all of a sudden I am a bad person in their eyes, I've violated some unspoken rule where I am supposed to pay for the supreme privilege of their company.
And it's not that my finances aren't stable, it's just they are stretched pretty far until several things get paid off. I'd love to be super generous and not have to worry about how much things cost. Someday.

I won't say I'm beautiful, but certain demographics generally consider ok looking and I wouldn't change who I am for the world. Nor do I think it's in any way healthy to speculate on it. We are who we are. Better to accept and like who you are than ruminate on a fantasy.

They feel entitled to "rides" and or "shopping trips"? What reasonable man takes a woman he's not in a relationship with on a shopping trip? And by rides are you referring to picking a date up and dropping her off, on a date?
I don't do "dutch" on a date. That's not a date.... that's two buddies hanging out. Having said that.... I'm ok with one party paying for... let's say.... the meal.... and the other for movie tix.

I didn't vote because I think this is silly.....
OP.... I actually think you're cute.... and not "marginally attractive". I think your issue may not be with attractiveness but with confidence. You don't sound like your confident enough for the women you find attractive.
There are things one can do on a date that don't cost a lot of money..... use your imagination. (This will be a bit more difficult in the winter.)
How is it silly? It's a struggle for me to get anything started or to keep anything going if I manage to.
Confidence needs substantial reasons behind it - confidence without substance is arrogance. I like to believe that there are women out there who would appreciate me for who I am regardless of financial circumstances. I don't feel that I lack confidence as much as feel lacking in resources to make this whole process easier (possible?) I send confident, detailed emails to women who live close. Maybe they'll reply someday. Until then I'm lonely and yearning for attention and affection.
So.... you have no confidence because your finances are stretched? Is money and looks the only thing you think matter to women? What about personality.... kindness...... sexiness......?
So... you sent "confident, detailed emails to women who live close"? Confident and detailed emails.... in what way? Are you telling them right off the bat that you don't feel as attractive as you think they'd like.... and that your finances are stretched and you therefore can't afford a lot of "pricey" dates?
If the answer is "yes" then I'd say women are no interested in you because of the "actual facts" you mentioned in your emails, but of the fact that you sound like someone that's down on himself.
If the answer is "no" then you need to give details as to what you write, so we can figure out what the problem may be.
And yes.... the poll is silly to me, because of the over-simplified and very limited either or options. You know... there are also:
- rich & beautiful
- rich & average looking
- ugly & poor
- ugly & of average means
- average looking & poor
- average looking & of average means
In my opinion, people that speak of over-simplified and very limited either ors tend to be kind of one-dimensional, and perhaps even a bit unrealistic, to me.

But its not my fault you whine to women about money before you've even had a chance to take them out. Or that once you have taken them out they find you lacking...
If money and looks are so important to you that you feel the need to "inform" women before you date. Then congratulations! You're saving them alot of heartache by being up front about it!
Guys like you have an inflated sense of self and never actually take the time to develope a personality.
So I think in your case it wouldnt matter how much money you had!
A date with you is probably like getting a root canal.

we can all wish to be something we are not... but that doesn't change who we really are.
if a woman truly wanted to get to know you, your current situation wouldn't really matter. they should give you bonus points for being so honest from the start!
and for the record, we should feel sorry for Donald Trump... look at the shallow life he lives because people can't see beyond his money.

I chose Poor and beautiful, I would love to wake up in the morning and feel beautiful on the Outside as well as the Inside.
I believe that physical beauty and the personality to match has many advantages. JMHO
