We went last night to see American Sniper.I don't think Ive ever paid good money to watch such a piece of dogshit movie. I wasn't in Iraq, but I sure as hell was in Vietnam .Eastwood was a lifeguard at FT.Ord.He should have made a movie about HIS war

Seems Eastwood's movie was nominated for best movie and all that. Saw interviews with sniper's dad and wife. Interesting.

Understand I have nothing but respect for Chris Kylie. I just didn't like the movie. 20 minutes in to it he's shooting a kid who was handed some kind of explosive device by his mother. In his shoes I would have knee capped the kid. If the mom didn't come to his aid (in the movie she picks the explosive up and he kills her she would have became an organ donor on the spot. But I can see that clip on Utube and featured o n every hate America website these radical terror groups operate or troll. Eastwood likes to portray himself as some tough MFer. Truth is he spent two years in the US Army as a lifeguard at Ft. Ord.
Stallone is even worse. That bag of shit went to Sweden during Vietnam and coached girls volleyball, then he returned and became "Rambo" and made millions. Before Al Franken was elected to the US Senate he asked Stallone to join him on a USO tour to Iraq..Sly
's answer was "no...I could get hurt".

And now we're going to do a spring offensive on ISIS. Why the heck do we know this? We the people shouldn't know this. Who gave away our military secret to ISIS? Why would our military leaders allow this? Are they worried about their jobs? Is this administration traitorous? Is there no one in charge worried about our country's well-being?

I listened to a CIA/ military analyst. His explanation was the idea is to give as many citizens as possible a chance to flee. Im sure ISIS will make it difficult and lots will be caught in the battle that's coming. He also said don't take the "timeline" as definite, so I guess we are engaged in some kind of propaganda/disinformation war now...hard to figure!

saw coverage on the CBS evening news tonight.

was amazed to see Everett alvarez at one of today's ceremonies.

his POW silver wrist bracelet was the second I bought and wore for years, having dipped into a barrel and pulled it out at random. I believe he was our first pilot to be downed and detained.

I didn't know what he looked like then or now till this evening.

he was "just" ( not really "just" ) a name and a person I prayed for daily . I had forgotten him over the years and it was one of those snap-to moments tonight when walking through the room and hearing the name said on tv.

my first POW bracelet was for robinson risner, returned home alive but now deceased.

in remembrance of all......

I had a POW bracelets and wore it daily for years. (The brass would turn my wrist green) I polished it with brasso so much some of the letters were getting a bit hard to see. I'm sorry to say it is no longer with me. "Sheldon J Burnett USA was a helo pilot shot down in Laos during operation Lam Son 719 (Dewey Canyon 2) in March of 71. He was from NH.

I was told that if he was ever returned I was supposed to mail the bracelet to him. A bit of symbolism I guess to let him know he was not forgotten.

Did you get the opportunity to mail yours to Robinson Risner?

[A side note:] I got the bracelet in 1992 maybe and actually bought a book that had his name in it so I could learn more about the guy. It was kind of a killjoy because out of the entire book his name appeared twice and one was a MIA/KIA list. I only got online in late 2000 and until now it never dawned on me to look him up on the internet... until now.

He was recovered!

@ OP ... I was just down in Sports forum reading the posts and it occurred to me that perhaps one of our DH vets could help me out with a small memory issue I am having.

There was a movie called We Are Marshall in which the coach or the assistant coach was a retired veteran. This story is based on an actual event.

Does anyone know the true name of vet coach which was recounted in this movie?

Thanking any and all in advance for any assistance.

I think the greatest relevant quote I ever read came from Chairman Mao a Communist...he famously stated that "politics is war without bloodshed but war is politics with bloodshed"...we should all keep that in mind! JMHO

"Warfare is politics by another means"

(I don't know the origin of the quote but it might be fair to say someone copied Mao or maybe Mao plagiarized the quote from somewhere else.)

Looks like burning Old Glory is now a fad. Opinions. I understand that a flag is just cloth and doesn't have any true monetary value and all that but tell me what you think about it.

the real beauty in this country is folks being able to pretty much do whatever blows their skirt up. of course burning a flag doesn't blow my skirt up but then neither does the idea of marrying a man but you know, land of the free and all that shit.
