If your gal leaves her family, and goes with you, you will know she is tough enough to deal with what comes in other ways, and that she really cares for you a lot. I think what most parents who do that sort of thing are actually doing without realizing it, is trying to get their children to verify and confirm their own earlier choices about life. They convince themselves that they are protecting or guiding their children with their best interests in mind, of course, but they are just playing up to their own egos. The one thing NOT to do in reaction, is to go ahead with the relationship for the wrong reason. That is, don't stay with the girl BECAUSE it upsets her parents. Stay with her only if that's what you think and feel is your best choice.

Doc, we both know that if they are at an age where the dad doesn't like him, one of two things are true, and possibly BOTH are true: He is a shitbag of a boyfriend, that is only out to use and abuse her, and the dad "sees" that intuitively.(The Law of Attraction would apply here) and/or: She is underage, and for her it is nothing more than rebelling against her "oppressive, patriarchal" parents, simply stopping her from being a "Liberated Woman" that can choose her own path.
