Why Donald Trump Would be Good For America
Mr Trump would view America as he views one of his companies, that is with a businessman's perspective. The Washington politicians trying to get programs or polices approved often neglect or are unconcerned about the costs of them.
Trump says he is a great deal maker, and he often brings up his negotiating abilities when the subject of trade is brought up. He says our government makes bad trade deals, and he could improve on them. I happen to agree with him.
NAFTA, North American Free Trade Agreement, is a treaty signed by the US, Canada, and Mexico to reduce and eventually eliminate tariffs on trade among the three countries. This agreement has had many positive results for the three countries, but it has had some very negative consequences.
For the United States, it has resulted in loss of jobs in places like Michigan, Ohio, Texas, California, and other places. With the absence of tariffs, companies consider outsourcing their products to the countries in the free trade zone. Of course, when the goods are gone, the jobs go with them.
Before a company does any outsourcing, it considers the comparative advantages between the home country and the target country. They are labor costs and talents, the regulatory environment (health, safety, unions, etc.), availability of raw materials, transportation cost, setting up new factories, etc.
After considering the advantages, if a company can make a good cheaper someplace else, it will. There have been studies where just saving a few pennies resulted in outsourcing. Also a company will threaten its worker with outsourcing just to have leverage in labor negotiations.
Comparative advantage and duty free saved the manufacturer money, but does the American consumer get a break in the price? That's debatable. Another factor implicit in free trade is when goods were made with blue collar or low-skilled labor, those workers who lose their jobs will have to retrain for higher skilled work. Is that possible for older workers?
American lose jobs and the benefits to American consumers are sometimes negligible. But also the Mexicans get screwed too. Do American companies relocate their plants to impoverished areas of Mexico where employment is desperately needed? No, they go to Maquilladores or manufacturing areas right next to the Rio Grande. Los Señores get the shaft in many other ways, but I want to keep this short.
NAFTA has had benefits, but Trump's beef is that the loss of American jobs hasn't been compensated for by tangible benefits of this agreement. In short, he would re-negotiate it. BTW, NAFTA took the term of three presidents to hammer out.
It isn't just trade where Americans get screwed. The military spending is a gigantic boondoggle, and it's pretty clear we don't get any bargains for their bucks. With a president who focuses on costs, all his lackeys will become cost conscious Scrooges.

I watched his rally in Arizona, and it was great. Sheriff Joe and the Governor were there. Protesters had blocked the road, but Joe took care of them super fast. They also tried to block the entrance to the hall, but Joe again had a talk with them.
Anyway, Donald gave a great speech, very patriotic with lots of applause! I think from now on when I get nasty people on my threads, I'm just going to throw them disruptors out like Donald does!
Woo hoo, let's make America Great Again!

To be honest about it....its too late for this country and its people.
And any Prez with great idea's on how to fix it, will be held back by the constitution..and the Supreme Court.
So, its just a matter of watching a slow death, till it happens.
