Quote from ludlowlowell:
God took flesh and came to earth in the Person of Jesus Christ. When we reject one or more of Christ's teachings, we say in effect that we don't trust God.

My God! what a monstrous hypocrite you are.

You reject at least THREE of "Christ's teachings."

1. Jesus says: "...if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (Matthew 6:14)

But You and Satan contradict Jesus and say: "God does not forgive everyone who forgives others."

2. Jesus says: "But thou, when thou prayest, ...pray to thy Father." Mat 6:6

But you and Satan say: "I would recommend that people pray ...to Mary or one of the saints... Let the prayer life have some variety."

3. Jesus says: "Call no man your father upon the earth: "for one is your Father, which is in heaven." (Matthew 23:9)

And we know that you and your Satanic church reject that teaching of "Christ" as well.

4. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:

Yet we know that your churches are full of graven images and idols which you all bow down before and worship.

Quote from ludlowlowell:
The Bible is not to be taken literally word for word. It is to be interpreted by the Church.

Where does Jesus say that?

Oh that's right, He didn't. Your self serving church just made it up. It's a doctrine of men.

Hesus (sic) never founded your sect, He never appointed Peter as "the first pope" and he never promised to stay with your sect "until the end of time."

For Christ's sake and for the 50th time, the term "the end of time" IS NOT IN THE BIBLE!

[]Compulsive Liar
A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary. For the most part, compulsive liars are not overly manipulative and cunning (unlike sociopaths), rather they simply lie out of habit—an automatic response which is hard to break and one that takes its toll on a relationship (see how to cope with a compulsive liar).[/]

If you believe all that, why do you refuse to obey Him?

Answer Jesus: "Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46)

Just say, "Jesus, the reason I refuse to obey you is because..."

and you finish it.

A Pew Research Center survey conducted in 2016 found that about a third (32 percent) of Americans believe it is very important for a person to be Christian in order to be considered truly American. Nearly the same proportion (31 percent) contends that one’s religion is not at all important.

The link between religion and nationality is of greatest consequence to those Americans for whom religion plays a very important role in their life. Among this group, 51 percent say it is very important to be Christian in order to be truly American. For those respondents who say religion for them is only somewhat important, not too important or not important at all, just 11 percent say a Christian identity is very important to being an American.

There is also a denominational divide between Americans over their views of the relationship between Christianity and nationality. A majority (57 percent) of white evangelical Protestants say it is very important to be Christian in order to be a true American. Only 29 percent of white mainline Protestants and 27 percent of Catholics agree. And just 9 percent of people who are unaffiliated with an organized religion say it is very important for a person to be Christian in order to be truly American.

As the current debate over the refugee order suggests, a clear partisan split in the U.S. exists on the importance of being Christian. More than four in 10 Republicans (43 percent) say it is a very important part of being an American. Fewer Democrats (29 percent) and independents (26 percent) share this view.

A third of the U.S. sees being Christian as central to being "truly American."https://t.co/RgvqtmHXAG

There is also a fairly large generation gap over the link between religious faith and national identity. People ages 50 and older place far greater importance on being a Christian (4 percent say it is very important) than Americans under 35 (18 percent).

Religion and a sense of “who is us” are far more intertwined in the American consciousness than in that of most other people. The same Pew Research Center survey also asked people in Canada, Australia and 10 European countries about the link between national identity and being Christian. A median of just 15 percent in Europe and a similar number in Canada (15 percent) and Australia (13 percent) say it is very important to be Christian in order to be a true national. Only in Greece do more than half (54 percent) of the public state that being Christian is very important to national identity.

Besides religion, what do Americans see as vital to their national identity? Seven in 10 say it is very important that people speak English to be “truly” American. And more than four in 10 (45 percent) say being a real American requires sharing in the country’s traditions and culture.

Jesus took only one poll that we know of ("Who do men say that I am?"). And Jesus did not give a hoot about the results of that poll, either---He only cared about the true answer to His question, namely, that He was the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

THE Christ, not A Christ.

Christian nationalists believe in a revisionist history, which holds that the founders were devout Christians who never intended to create a secular republic; separation of church and state, according to this history, is a fraud perpetrated by God-hating subversives. One of the foremost Christian revisionist historians is David Barton, who, in addition to running an organization called Wallbuilders that disseminates Christian nationalist books, tracts and videos, is also the vice-chairman of the Texas Republican Party. The goal of Christian nationalist politics is the restoration of the imagined Christian nation. As George Grant, former executive director of D. James Kennedy’s influential Coral Ridge Ministries, wrote in his book “The Changing of the Guard:”

“Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ — to have dominion in civil structures, just as in every other aspect of life and godliness.

But it is dominion we are after. Not just a voice.

It is dominion we are after. Not just influence.

It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time.

It is dominion we are after.

World conquest. That’s what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish.”

In the Christian nationalist vision of America, non-believers would be free to worship as they choose, as long as they know their place. When Venkatachalapathi Samuldrala became the first Hindu priest to offer an invocation before Congress, the Family Research Council issued a furious statement that reveals much about the America they’d like to create:

“While it is true that the United States of America was founded on the sacred principle of religious freedom for all, that liberty was never intended to exalt other religions to the level that Christianity holds in our country’s heritage...Our founders expected that Christianity — and no other religion — would receive support from the government as long as that support did not violate peoples’ consciences and their right to worship. They would have found utterly incredible the idea that all religions, including paganism, be treated with equal deference.”

Here is where a marvelous fact emerges that should illuminate any narrative. The right of individual conscience and the ultimate ratification of the Constitution by the thirteen states was won because of the alliance between orthodox evangelical Christians of the day, notably Baptists and Methodists, and those influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment, like Jefferson and Madison. For these strange bedfellows, the issue was not whether Christianity or religion was good or bad, although certainly many differed on the point. The issue was that individuals should have the right to believe as they will without interference from powerful religious institutions or the government.

It is true that a major reason people opposed ratification of the Constitution was the absence of any mention of Christianity in general and the banning of religious tests for public office in particular. But Baptists were notably active and eloquent in their support for religious freedom. Cornell historians Isaac Kramnick and Lawrence Moore report that during the ratification convention in Massachusetts,

...a distinguished Baptist minister, the Rev. Isaac Backus, supported the absence of a religious test. "Nothing is more evident," he commented, "both in reason and The Holy Scriptures, than that religion is ever a matter between God and individuals; and therefore, no men can impose any religious test without invading the essential prerogatives of our Lord Jesus Christ....And let the history of all nations be searched... and it will appear that the imposing of religious tests had been the greatest engine of tyranny in the world."

Contrary to the vision of much of the Christian
Right, religious freedom is for everyone. We need
fresh perspectives and coalitions to meet these
challenges. Other sectors of society, from moderate
Republicans to civil rights and labor activists, to
religious and nonreligious organizations, need to
discover how to do this, even though they may not
be accustomed to working together. This will cer
-
tainly mean envisioning and acting on short-term
and long-term strategies, both inside and outside
of the courts. We need 21st century coalitions and
strategies to meet the challenges and opportunities
of our time.
Among our other recommendations, we must,

Reclaim religious freedom as a fundamental democratic value.
This means embracing
religious freedom as emphasizing the equality of all people, including everyone’s right
to believe and to practice faith (or not) as we
will, and to change our minds—free from the
undue influence of powerful religious institutions and government. The right to believe
differently from the rich and the powerful is a
prerequisite for free speech and a free press,
the other two elements of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Increase our capacity to respond to religious freedom-related issues.
This would
include but not be limited to resourcing a
network of researchers, writers, political
thinkers, and scholars to develop and inform
strategy with respect to religious liberty and
civil rights.
*
Counter misinformation.
Many conservative religious liberty claims rely on falsehoods, bogus history, and scare tactics. For example, clergy have never been forced under the law to perform any marriage of which
they do not approve.
