Now. Lets just make comments. We are never going to see eye to eye or change each others minds. So lets just make a comment on something we saw. Short and sweet. I WILL block if need be. You have your own threads to rant. And since we ALL have smart points to make, hate to block cause it does it for everything on DH. And I do value all input on DH.
So, watched Trump and the rest on TV. Trump looked like he was walking to the gallows. Lol. Balloon I would put over his head was..What the hell did I get myself into!? Yikes!
Baron looks like he wants to be anywhere but there. He sat down and someone must have said stand up, NOW! I am unsure if he is just a typical 10 year old, bored and antsy or if he is a spoiled brat. Will have to see.
Michelle looked unhappy most of the time. Bill Clinton at times looked senile. Pence looked like he was close to crying after his swearing in.
I feel for everyone stuck in that mess. Lets just walk reeeaaaallly slow, ten miles to the stage. With cameras stuck in our faces all the way. I noticed when it was over, people charged off. lol.

congrats and best of luck for stepping into the political ring....

personally,
i prefer opinions that are fact based and provable as well as common sense

I see so much crap on the news. I am more into what the average person sees for themselves. Not what the talking heads rant and rave about. If I want to see that, then I can search for them. And get tired of trying to plow through a seven paragraph pasted thing. And then seeing the same post again and again and again. WE got it!

Did not watch the inauguration, but saw certain clips on FB...loved Melania's blue coat and was shocked by the empty stands and small crowd in the plaza area. I will post a pic in another thread since you don't want them posted here. Have a great weekend, everyone.

I for one am glad the changing of power is complete. I'm not sure if I was impressed with the acceptance speech, but it sure wasn't the normal political nature. If anything, he mentioned some true facts and I laughed when he stripped the hide off the Washington politicians by saying they prospered while the American people suffered. The only thing we can do is live with it and hope he doesn't forget there are American people.

First lady was elegant and that's not even a good term for it. Now....how in the world can one wear those shoes all day, everyday? Also, how can any person during a campaign and election withstand the hours it requires without collapsing. Then to look like she did today is unreal.

I guess I'm looking forward to the change and anticipating going forward. It sure is a change unlike any I've known in my life. Perhaps there's room for hope.

Still trying to get my day going and absolutely my last cup of coffee. Just flipped the computer back on and flipped on the video of "President and First Lady's dance". Couldn't help but wonder how each were feeling at that moment. Had to be tired to the bone.

Then Vice-President and wife joined the dance. That man would be something else to watch give him a little upbeat music and a full dance floor. Anyone else notice the spring in his step. Was quite enjoyable to see that spirit in him.

I can imagine Melania ragging Don's ear off once they were going to bed. "So! It was your brilliant idea that we should get out of the car and walk when I am wearing pointed toed spike high heels. What if I would have stepped in a hole. HUH? HUH? That would have been real cute on TV! You idiot!"
They said she was channeling Jackie in her outfit...shortened sleeves with long gloves. She is lucky to have the background of modeling. I noted Michelle wore power red! Who did hair..they both had the same messy updo.
And his assistant..they said she is no fashion plate. But that red, white, and blue dress would not have made in on a run way where fashion is crazy. And lion head buttons? REALLY!
I noticed the marching soldiers..first thought is why do they have Red Coats in the parade? But, I guess our colonial soldiers had similar uniforms to the British. ???
They said the limo is called the Beast and the doors are so heavy the occupant cant even open them.Well..thats great! What if??
Why did the rioters pick on burning that limo..symbol of rich or what???? Poor car.

Anyone watch the video of when Trump was signing executive orders just after his becoming president. The son was in the background standing behind his mother. A lady with a baby was standing beside him. The child showed his personality which was so tender and gentle and he wasn't the stiff little bored fellow who was being held hostage during all the proceedings. It was very touching.

How do we get term limits when the ones we want out are the ones who make the laws? What gets me is who are the idiots who keep re-electing them. That one congressman was in office til he was so old he could be called Medusa. Trump is 70 and the oldest pres yet. I know with age comes wisdom but after a point so does senility and the chance of croaking in office! Of course, it will get worse since the young dont want to be bothered to run. That is what I see the problem is with that march this weekend. How many of the women will go home and run for office? I think too many of the marchers went just to see and be seen. And the "movement" will die much as the Tea Party has.

I wish Trump would get a thicker skin. Like his ranting over how many people were at the swearing in. Take the high road..say..."well, it was not stated when that CNN pic was taken. Before people had all been let in, during or after many had left. It is also not including those who watched via TV or listened on radio or internet. The important thing is I won and was sworn in. Now, lets move on."
I saw that that pic was at 8:30, hours prior. And that some gates were being blocked by protesters and shut down.
The old idea is when someone pokes at you, the best response is to ignore them. He just feeds the heckers by carrying on. Ivanka..please sit on your father!!!

Something I just came across, looking for something else...

Something I've been advocating for years!!!

Canada has rainfall retention ponds... Go figure...

With all the floods we have throughout the US, WE NEED THESE!!!

Not only will they redirect excess rainfall and therefore curtail flooding, but...

That water can be treated and used for drinking water etc. so forth and so on... AND...

In areas like California, it can be used for all the flash fires they have...

Do WE here, in America, have rainfall retention ponds??? NO!

WHY THE HELL NOT!!!

I agree, Trump needs to learn the art of ignoring. He has thin skin, and it is not a compliment to him. If he hadn't been so fast to make comments and defend while running for the office, just how much more support would he have received. It's my opinion that it may have been a runaway and a NO CONTEST. BUT...as Hillary said "do you wish to have someone leading your country that can be baited with a tweet?" I didn't hear much of what she said during the campaign because I was definitely tired of the name Clinton a long time ago, but this statement was a fact.

This country wastes more water than others have. And then the gov cant tell the dif between grey water systems and septic systems. Although in Flint, they seem to be the same. Cali should be happy..getting lots of water now!
Trump is like a kid in the candy store. Just lay it down and I will sign it..Yippee!! I hope he is aware of what it is..at least he does appear to read them before signing.Obama went nuts in the last month signing stuff too. Let all those criminals out, get guys out of Gitmo.... I wonder how much stuff will fly once congress gets into it though. Heard Trump is signing memos and they arent orders? I do not agree with him liking the Keystone pipeline though.
Our corporate greed is selling all our resources to other countries. And then when we run out...gee..can buy from the middle east and make a few more terrorists.

In the world according to me....President Trump is used to having people hang on and fear his every word. There are people who live to make him angry. If he doesn't pick and choose the important things to fight about....his troubles are just beginning. IMPLOSION in less than two years.

TOE, I agree with that. For someone to be so business orientated and having the accomplishments he's worked for, it's a shame to see a personality that is like a small child where someone has taken it's ice cream cone. That will tear him apart and he will loose any respect for his intelligence and ability.

When is Trump going to learn to just make his point and move on. SHUT UP! You said it..twice..thrice..He is one of those people who thinks if you keep saying it over and over, people will believe you better. I watched the interview. Give the hose last night credit, he just changed the subject. I am going to start calling Trump Pete and Repete!
I see today the Mex pres canceled over the wall issue. I thought..oh yeah..well you will pay for that wall..oh hell yeah...one way or the other it will COST you. As far as I see it, they need us..we dont need them. Only the rich corporations need Mexico for peons who work cheap.

Regardless of what it is, things that are ignored and patched or jury rigged can only hold together so long. I believe that's the state of our country and it will require mass dismanteling to get it back to scratch so we can rebuild. Some of the steps that will be required are near impossible and will definitely change the system as we know it. It is my belief that our economy is going to take a nose dive in the process, but can we recover and how long will it take to do so? By then the four year presidential term will be over, and new administration in place to start tearing apart the steps taken by this one. Will the republican support that this election gained, will the democrats get it together to take control in the next elections?

I'm sorry to say that I think even with the good ideas and attempts to right a lot of wrongs, it won't get accomplished. Now, the Mexican border issue is not going to go well. I know Trump got where he is by being very harsh on certain issues. But his statements of the wall around the Mexican border and Mexico paying for it was a challange that any leader of another country would take as an insult and rebel.

Was listening to the radio in the vehicle yesterday while making the hours drive to the dental clinic. There is a talk show whereas they take phone calls. Some guy called in and made a very interesting point. The Mexican border problems is not necessarily over run by the Mexican people. It's the influx of immigrants coming into Mexico from deeper in South America. There is a TV show called "Border Patrol" and it shows the border patrol working the entrance to the US. They are always finding vehicles loaded with drugs and the illegals driving these vehicles always claims they are from Mexico City, so when deported that's where they're returned. They get it back together and across the border they come again.

Now if Trump had not pin pointed the Mexican border as suggestion that it was the Mexicans causing the problems and then stating the influx of the immigration south of Mexico and the problems it is causing Mexico itself, it may have gone down much smoother with the president of Mexico.

Just my opinion

That is part of the problem. South Americans try to reach here also. And once they do, everyone feels sorry for them and helps care for them. And it irks me when we have working families living in cars and vets homeless..that all that aid goes to illegals.
I cant see improvement in this country. When Obama got in, the Repubs became the party of no, even if his idea was a Repubs originally. And now the Repubs are in, the Dems are acting like spoiled brats the same way and they have become the party of no. So this country is on a merry go round. You can jump on the horsey and ride all day long and just end up back where you started. It is like offering candy to one kid. All the rest scream and holler til they get it. And then the ones still out are screaming including the one who did have it. And it goes all the way back with every election since Washington left.

Guess my biggest fear is that if this mess that's been patched and jury rigged so long is straightened out, it will have to be cut to the bone and taken back to scratch. That means a big hit to the economy because there's no way to tweek something so severly without it reacting.

What went wrong in this country and the world is greed. Once people made what they needed and a bit more to sell or barter for what they couldnt. Blame Henry Ford if you will. Automation. And soon one person manufactured more items in one day than 10 people could use. And it has gotten bigger and more ever since. The rich got rich off of the labor of others. And then wanted more, more, more! All you hear is how the economy MUST grow. Why? So the stock market goes up? We have a handful who own more cash than the rest. I see happy people who live modestly. I always say I have everything I want and need. Just learned to want cheap things. After you have your needs met, the rest is gravy. And just how much gravy can one eat.
We had hogs. Back then the sows could weigh in nigh on 1000 pounds. A hog is a rare animal who will continue to grow as per feed intake. But, when she gets that weight, her litters suffer. Either in numbers or survival. She is so huge she may lay on them and kill them.
The economy is the same. Anything that grows too large is hard to handle. And may become self defeating.
Bill Gates is smart. He and his wife are giving away money because how can you spend a billion dollars?! A house so large you need rollerskates and lose your spouse? Rich food til youre tired of it. So many cars you cant drive them all? Trips around the world til you get tired of travel? And yet there are people who have millions and it never is enough. Kind of like Scrooge McDuck.
We always were taught to push the kids farther up the ladder. When we are standing on the top rung, where are they supposed to go?

Well, looks like the immigration/refugee ban was not thought through very well. I do believe that the President has some intelligent people around him....they are just terrified of him and won't stop him from doing this disruptive stuff.

The idea is good....just not implemented correctly.

The state of Kentucky has many rain retention ponds and some even large enough to be qualified as a small lake. These are managed by the Corp of Engineers and a lot of them have water plants that purify and process for drinking water.

The Ky Fish and Game Dept. also has a big role in managing the water and it's some of the best black bass, small mouth bass as well as rainbow trout that can be found anywhere.

Have no clues as to what Calif has, but if a puddle of water would it not be used for irrigation of food crops? It's hard to believe that any state does not have these , but Calif does operate on a totally different game plan. Perhaps the tree huggers of upper Calif and Oregon would find some little cricket or worm that needs protected at the expense of the citizens.

Trump's temporary incoming ban on immigrants was an effort to start securing our boarders. I knew at some point, something was going to go in place, and not be well received. Just the launch of it was bad timing. Was he going to screw up on implementing something? Of course. He's human. We make mistakes, why can't he? Quite a few missed a key word in it all-Temporary.Sorting the vetting process out isn't going to be easy, but it must be done in order for us to be safe.

What gets me is the two parties who b*tch at the other one and then go do the same thing when they lose. And we get idiots protesting if the US does what other nations are doing every day. Look around and read some history. Better yet, travel to some of them and try to get away with what is tolerated in the US!

If Republicans want Dems to play nice after all they did to Obama...(the most disrespectful treatment in our lifetime to a president) and ignore Donnie's daily lies and bizarre tweets and behavior, it probably won't happen and I would certainly hope no true patriot would want his past and future behavior to be ignored. Well, what are we going to do about it? Growling every day isn't going to cure it. Calling the senators, and all the heads of state isn't going to be a quick fix. We have Trump as president and even if we don't like or respect who he is or what he's doing there will be a specific amount of time that we have to suck it up and walking the streets shouting our disagreements with the fuzzy pink vajinas around our neck isn't gaining a lot of respect for our cause.

The only thing I know for sure is ignoring what is going on in the White House is the stupidest thing we can do which is what Fox News wants you to do and fools oblige Fox. Out of MILLIONS of female protesters, probably only .00001% wore a vagina hat, but because you stare at Fox News all day, that's the only picture you see of female protesters. What do YOU want to do? Ignore our Dictator?

Most are protesting over muslims being stopped from coming into this country. That isn't the case. It's from 7 countries that have jihadists within their population. And it's TEMPORARY. So that we can refine vetting and make our country safe. And once again, MSM is not reporting the whole story, and leaving out vital wording in their reports.

I haven't access to Fox news because I don't have cable TV. The only channels on my TV are local and they have early morning news and evening and the only mention of politics is a quick mention then on to the local news. SO....I'm getting most of my education from this site because there are a couple members that are direct opposite with their views.

To have a different opinion and belief than another is a right and those that are so wrapped up in the mess that they are unable to even give someone credit for their right to choose. I know it's a constitutional right to "Freedom of Speech" and won't attempt to contradict that, but the calling names because one doesn't totally agree with my opinion about anything is totally lacking in acceptance and are not the expert just because they believe differntly than I.

^^^You seem to be describing yourself and your intolerance for those with opinions different from yours such as the protestors and DH members. Psychological projection is an age-old coping tool. Sooooo...again with the question, what do you suggest Americans do? Ignore our Liar-In-Chief-Wanna-Be-Dictator, or call him on his lies and stupidity which is probably going to get us all killed, or at least in a horrible war?

WORTH REPEATING!!!

The ongoing saga of just how stupid donny dump really is...

quote from donny: I am the high and mighty, putin like, lord and master, PRECEDENT of the United States of America!!!

And because I'm all that and a bag of chips...

I hereby BAN all Muslims!!!

Washington state said... hold on there your dumpedness!!!

And they pushed a stay, of the ban, through a Federal court...

donny dump said... YOU low life scumbags, YOU can't do that... I'M THE PRECEDENT!!!

And donny fired back with a stay of Washington's stay, through the 9th circuit court of appeals, but...

The 9th circuit court of appeals fired back...

02/04/2017 An order denying immediate administrative stay pending full consideration of the emergency motion for stay and setting schedule...

Which in lay terms means... Prove it ya bigly doodoohead!!!

And now here's where we got donny... Oh GAWD I'm soooooooooooooooo ecstatic with glee!!!

donny said, in his papers, he had super secret evidence, the US is in immediate danger from the bad guys...

The court said, not knowing what we don't know, because you won't tell us... We can't stay your stay of their stay...

A hearing will be held later, where in donny will need to prove his statement...

And, (here's the good part) when donny can't prove anything, he will be held in contempt for LYING to a Federal judge...

Gentlemen... START the Impeachment proceedings!!!!!!

BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The difference with Trump is he says what he thinks without filtering. I saw something on youtube where they asked people who said a quote. Mostly they attributed it to Trump. And were shocked when told it had been said by Hillary. Most politicians are two faced. The Shadow knows. And once in office, suffer amnesia except for the Pacs who fed them cash. I get peeved at all the populace who rant and rave and then in an election put the same damn liars right back in for their 10th term. If I hire an employee and they cheat, lie, dont perform..I warn them and then FIRE them. And I dont rehire them.
I see lots Trump is doing I dont like. But, Hillary would have been doing things I dont like either. Bottom line is our government is by the rich, for the rich, of the rich. And we just go along for the ride and pick up the crumbs they toss us and say Thankie massa.

When the work place switched over to service jobs and the factories and decent pay scale it seemed the government was all for it. I thought then "just wait until you really get hit with very low funds and see how you manage with only tax dollars paid by service jobs"

Quote from maggievalleymtn:
The only thing I know for sure is ignoring what is going on in the White House is the stupidest thing we can do which is what Fox News wants you to do and fools oblige Fox. Out of MILLIONS of female protesters, probably only .00001% wore a vagina hat, but because you stare at Fox News all day, that's the only picture you see of female protesters. What do YOU want to do? Ignore our Dictator?

What do I want to do? ANSWER: Nothing except to watch and listen for awhile longer and then decide whether my vote was right or wrong.

I do not vote the party and am not a registered republican. I want to study the candidates and base my decision on that. This time around I didn't think we had a choice of candidate, period. I did not feel comfortable with either, but that was the choice we were given to cast our vote.

I was still undecided up until about a week prior to election and still uncomfortable. I have a friend who lives in another state and she has a very solid head on her shoulders. We keep in touch regularly by email. I asked her to tell me something because I was ready to do a write in and vote for Goofy then let the powers that be decide whom qualified more for the vote.

She answered with positive points of each candidate. She said that Trump was a business man and could not have accomplished it by himself. Thus, he had surrounded himself with intelligent people and had to be able to accept direction regardless if he came across in this campaign as the dictator bully. Based on my giving that statement some serious thought I cast my vote for him.

I could not accept Mr. Clinton again waltzing his butt through the Whitehouse and felt that if Hillary won that the oval office would be a partnership rather than him being the First Gentleman.

Most of my comments are that I'm one to try to look at both sides and realize that things are not so cut and dried that there can't be another view point.

As it is, I'm fearful of the leadership and wonder if I did the right thing by casting my vote for Trump. There are rough and probably very dangerous times ahead of us and don't like the fact that he doesn't have a filter on his mouth. Then I think "what would it be like if Hillary was in office". I don't like that thought either. I feel that Trump (no matter what he will be as our president) addressed issues that were concerns to the US citizens when a common practice is "political correctness" and sticky issues are not mentioned. I also wonder if he went Republican because that was his best bet to win the vote. ???

I second that. Every election it is down to pick the jerk or the jackass. And this time was two jackasses. So as an independent, I voted against the Clinton aristocracy. DC has locked itself into immobility. We now see the Dems playing the same games they railed against the Repubs doing. They are ALL a bunch of fat cat, whining children. And on our tax payers buck. Will Trump do good. Wait and see. Will he do bad..wait and see. We the people will always get screwed no matter who is in office. At least the fun is seeing DC at war with each other. At my age and situation..I dont really care anymore.
I do agree thought that the one percent of the world wanting the One World Government and One World economy has screwed us royally. Take mfg overseas..we will be tech giants. Oops..tech went over seas.. So we will....get...SERVICE jobs. The feudal system is back. Suck it up peasants and pay.

One thing that bothered my mind should Hillary have won was that she and Bill were already reaping the benefits of a former president. Then should she have won would those same benefits be given again. Wouldn't that be double dipping for which the government put a stop in the private sector?

You know that his committment of that is somewhat not quite right. Sure he doesn't need the money, but I would have liked to have seen him designate it to a benefit to the citizens. Wouldn't that have gone a long way for those on Social Security who struggle just to get their meds and then fall in the donut hole with no way out? Not really a good example, but just something where the citizens could have somehow been helped.

I'm laughing. Seems my post explaining why I chose to vote for Trump put "The End" stamp on the argumentative postings calling people idiots, etc. What I need to do is slap my hands and reprimand myself for messing with someone. Perhaps then the won't get me just yet.

Ok..so Trump donates his salary. And it comes out of our taxes so it wasnt really his to start with. Then, they need to appoint a staff on salary to manage it. And then decide who gets it. More management. And by the time a person gets it..down to $3 a month.
Everything has to be anti Trump. Why cant he and Ivanka just think that just maybe...her clothes line got canned cause of lack of sales. Maybe, just maybe, her designs sucked? Its called good biz..huh Donald?

Since I pay little attention to Ivanka and what she sells, then I couldn't say it's a boycott of her product line. But since Nordstrom's stock has taken a hit because they stopped carrying Ivanka's products, then I'd say yes, the public is speaking out. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out during the coming months. Starbucks may start feeling the hit also. I know I wouldn't invest a nickle in their stock because of their bad press. Most investors are a flighty group, and have no problem dumping their stock if they have the slightest idea that their company may be in bad favor with the public.

The stock market is so heavily inflated right now with speculation and speculation if empty air. I wouldn't have a dime in there right now, especially with the sudden rise just after election. There was no time for companies to increase their assets to support the climb in a few days after the election. So, it is my opinion it is only hot air that caused the sudden rise.

I laugh at the stock marker data. The listing are mainly for the top 500 stocks. The other million or so companies listed on the other ones get ignored. There are lots of companies who are cash rich and doing well that get no recognition cause they arent brand names. So people go nuts when the news shows a handful of companies and if they go up or down. And the suckers rush to buy or sell. I do surveys and they ask if I care about the eco or charity stuff of a company. I tell them no. Same with the blasted sports. If they didnt worry about image, they might be able to lower ticket prices so more people could afford to attend. Same with the ridiculous salaries to chase a ball around.
Too much with banks and companies are worried about the stock holders. So screw their customers as long as the CEOs and the board and stock holders are happy.
