As I was going about my day, I saw a pair of teenagers walking along the sidewalk holding hands. The sight flashed me back to me youth. The feeling that overcame was the sensation of young love and how wonderful it is. Holding her hand. Feeling how soft it is. Making her laugh. Kicking around together without a care in the world. Thinking how lucky I am as my spirit swells with joy.
Doubt I'll ever go through that again the same way but it sure was a nice little blast from the past.

Oh, I do. Those butterflies you get when you first kiss...
I think it's the first time you really understand that there are so many wonderful things about another person, and that it's not just about you. I mean, when you're a teen, things really do revolve around you, even if you don't mean to be that way. Then you meet someone who brings you out of yourself and so much just opens up.

I remember in the 4th grade having a friend who we were close until middle school haha but the school had gift exchange for each student during Christmas and I also wanted to get my friend something. I remember my dad teaching me to do chores and giving me a list of things to do from that moment on with rewarding me some cash each week. good lesson and great example of putting value on your friends.

your reference is towards the south and that would be first your sibling before your cousin because that is how it is done down in the holler

One of my favorite stories to tell.
I was on a hike with the mutt and I could hear laughter and giggles from up ahead. As I got closer it was a couple, easily in their late sixties, they were convorting like teens. My jaded mind went straight to them either being a new couple or having an affair. I mean they were so into each other. Then the man gave her a pat on the butt and she squealed like a school girl. Then they saw me. He just chuckled and she turned a lovely shade of red. After a few minutes of talking they had been high school sweethearts and had been married for almost 50 years, my heart melted.
As I continued on my walk, I could still hear them laughing behind me.
Butterflies isn't just for teens or only during the honeymoon phase of a relationship.

Good story. Butterflies are indeed for any age, but what you witnessed is very rare these days and I believe you know that.
My high school sweetheart is also married with 3 kids. I carried a torch for her forever. After reuniting on facebook about a decade ago, I realized that magic was long gone. Helped me extinguish that torch and get on with gettin on.
No ive always been butter and jaded.
Cue sandy...

Gotheon, what a wonderful story.
I have a couple friend. They've been married for decades and they're still giggly with each other, too. They hold hands and when seated together, are always touching. They have a daughter my daughter's age, and much older ones, too. They still look at each other like they're on their honeymoon.
It's very inspiring, isn't it?

Yea
Those were back before smartphones and women were still taught some decency and morals.
You try to hold a woman's hand, now, and she'll scream "Rape" or get you fired at work for "Sexual Harassment"

Ohio is a shithole, p*ssy-whipped, Feminist ass-kissing state of people living on government handouts(kinda like Socialism), and is riddled with crime, drugs, and waste.
I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to live here, because I think it would be better in Iraq.

I don't know if I really think it's all that rare to be in love with someone you've been in love with for forever. It might be rare to act as though you're teenagers, though I still think it happens.
I remember being very grossed out when I was a teenager and my parents went out running and dancing in the rain one rainy night. They were just so horribly giggly and, euw, touchy....
When my husband was dying and in a coma, my mother came to be with me for a few days. I dropped her off at a casino for a few hours one afternoon. It was a Wednesday which is Senior Day and the casino was filled with old people. I had never noticed before just how many old people held hands or walked with their arms linked. Even lots of loving pats and arm strokes, etc.
I have to admit to being really envious and even angry that they got that while I didn't have it anymore. And they were older and therefore got a lot more time with each other than I was gonna get.
Then, after I got over being angry, I felt like I had to run after them all and tell them how lucky they were and to appreciate it. Talk about running the gamut of emotions.
Who knows, maybe they were all newlyweds. People come here for new starts.

Hell. I still hold hands with my gal(when I have a gal)(sigh) as we walk along a park path or down the street to a restaurant. They like it and I never tire of it.
But I do remember the giddiness of my first carefree hand holding though.

And when he held my hands, I knew that it was now or never. Summer of 1997. I guess nothing could last forever. Those were the best days if my life, the summer of 1997.
Brian Adams: "Got my first friend six strings, at the five & dime. Me & a couple of guys from school formed a band, in my basement. We played until our fingers were sore. Then when I saw her face, I knew I was in love. And when she held my hands, I knew that it was now or never. Those were the best days of my life, summer of 65. But I guess nothing could last forever."
"She talks kind of lazy, & her clothes are kind of funny, but I love her endlessly. Because love grows, where my rosemary goes. And nobody knows, like me.
Oh but love grows
Where my Rosemary goes
And nobody knows like me
There's something about
Her hand holding mine
It's a feeling that's fine
And I just gotta say, hey
She's really got a magical spell
And it's working so well
That I can't get away

I did have a huge flashback today while grocery shopping. It was the smell of men's Stetson cologne... one of my truest loves used to wear it. It flooded me with memories of him.

No, never had a date in HS. Joan couldn't hold hands while walking because she had crutches and Michele thought I was far too frisky as it was, unless she wanted to show off that she had a boyfriend as if anyone cared!
