When I was younger and working at a seafood wholesaler during college, a couple of us used to stash little pony bottles of beer down deep under the ice making machine. We'd sneak into the cooler where ice was made and fish refrigerated to throw back some 7oz beer goodness so we would already have a buzz going when we got off work and hit a bar. We would smoke pot in the giant freezers and exhale into our gloves to keep the skunk weed stank down.

Ahhh... Good times!

I don't really think it's a wise move. Some places it would just be unsafe thing to do around fellow employees, especially if there is machinery involved, driving etc?? Many, many things could go wrong form it?

I think it's an American thing...(not to drink at work)...most of my jobs in Europe everyone when to the pub at lunchtime...often the boss too. I remember one incident the boss showed up with a tray of beers for us all on a hot day.

1 pot of coffee is worse for you than 1 glass of beer.

They should ban coffee drinking at work if they ban alcohol drinking.

They should ban donuts and bagels too in the conference room...that's just slowly killing people or making them fat and ill.

Serve beer instead.

I remember at Compaq we had to do a stupid class on health (because the insurance premiums were too high I guess)....some dietician telling us what not to eat etc...and then at the break time she said "There is coffee and bagels in the room next door"

I'm not talking about what gets you a buzz.
the level of alcohol you drink that gets you a buzz and the level that's considered to be drunk aren't the same things.
just for driving one beer is enough to consider you drunk.

I remember when I first starting working in a corporate office often the salesmen would take long "business" lunches, which were really 2-martini lunches. They were "working" lunches...lol They were selling, supposedly, and entertaining clients, but I don't think much selling was really going on. There was a time or two when they'd have to be retrieved from lunch.
