~~Decoration Day~~
Sleep, comrades, sleep and rest
On this Field of the Grounded Arms,
Where foes no more molest,
Nor sentry's shot alarms!
Ye have slept on the ground before,
And started to your feet
At the cannon's sudden roar,
Or the drum's redoubling beat.
But in this camp of Death
No sound your slumber breaks;
Here is no fevered breath,
No wound that bleeds and aches.
All is repose and peace,
Untrampled lies the sod;
The shouts of battle cease,
It is the Truce of God!
Rest, comrades, rest and sleep!
The thoughts of men shall be
As sentinels to keep
Your rest from danger free.
Your silent tents of green
We deck with fragrant flowers
Yours has the suffering been,
The memory shall be ours.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow~

The wretched desert takes its form, the jackal proud and tight
In search of you, I feel my way, though the slowest heaving night
Whatever fear invents, I swear it make no sense
I reach through the border fence,Come down, come talk to me
In the swirling, curling storm of desire unuttered words hold fast
With reptile tongue, the lightning lashes towers built to last
Darkness creeps in like a thief and offers no relief
Why are you shaking like a leaf,Come on, come talk to me
The earthly power sucks shadowed milk from sleepy tears undone
From nippled skin as smooth as silk the bugles blown as one
You lie there with your eyes half closed like there's no-one there at all
There's a tension pulling on your face,Come on, come talk to me
Ah please talk to me
Won't you please talk to me
We can unlock this misery
Come on, come talk to me

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As TAPS began to play.
The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.
They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here 'neath the sand.
I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.
Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,
Thanks for what you've given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore.

Well, I'm loaded and ready, Calmly holding steady
Looking for a sign to show me when
I'm waiting and willing,The clarity is chilling
But I'm not turning back And neither can you
I need someone to pull the trigger
Cause there's a hole in my heart getting bigger
And everything I'll ever be, I've been
And I need someone to pull the trigger
So hold me and love me ,Tie me up and drug me
Cause I'm not gonna beg you for my life
So if you're what I think you'll be
If you're who I think I see, shoot..........

If one could stop time, or make it up
If two could realize the best of luck
If I could locate a God above
And you only wanted to be loved
Then I'd try to hang on to the past
But you know that nothing lasts
Nothing lasts .....it's time to
Move on, let the past go
I waited for you here, but you never showed
Although I asked you to let me know
I only felt a cold wind blow
While I tried to hang on to the past
But you know that nothing lasts
Nothing's in your way
Now you can stand right up and run
Wouldn't even change things
If you took back what you've done
I have tried to hang on to the past
But I couldn't keep my grasp, cause nothing lasts

It happened a long time ago
sons and sons just letting go
Dads and such,friends or foe
fearing life oh dosey doe...
call me now and then sometimes
on special occasions
just to keep the piece
or an open mind....
what the hell have I done
to get the respect of those sons of mine
did I do things wrong, what can I say
only a call on a holiday....

Why on earth do I even try
Seeing life through sleepy eyes
Wondering blindly,hear my cries.....
help me out with your words
talk me into calm concerned
you lift my spirits don't you know
I wonder when our life will grow.......
your so far but yet so close
words of wisdom I cherish most
to my heart without you known
what I'd do without concern.......
thank god for friends.......

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

The civilized man has a moral obligation to be skeptical, to demand the credentials of all statements that claim to be facts.
Freedom of speech and freedom of action are meaningless without freedom to think. And there is no freedom of thought without doubt.

When flow'ry Summer is at hand,
And Spring has gemm'd the earth with bloom,
We hither bring, with loving hand,
Bright flow'rs to deck our soldier's tomb.
Gentle birds above are sweetly singing
O'er the graves of heroes brave and true;
While the sweetest flow'rs we are bringing,
Wreath'd in garlands of red, white and blue.
With snowy hawthorn, clusters white,
Fair violets of heav'nly blue,
And early roses, fresh and bright,
We wreathe the red, and white, and blue.

no where to run
no where to hide
no where to go
when you lose your pride
life's simple pleasures
are torn away
simply by words
you have to say
some understand you
and some just don't
some people get you
and some just won't
judge as you may
judge as you wish
don't throw me in water
I ain't no fish
happy are some
in there own way
till someone comes along
and ruins their day
think real hard
about conversations we had
your so good
I'm so bad
talking in circles
is what I like to do
try and change that
shame on you
if you don't understand
what I am trying to do
then think real hard
It should come easy to you
I don't really care
if I am liked or not
my hearts used to breaking
believe it or not

One, two, three
Is easy for me to say
But taking orders
Is not my forte.
Without a single thank you
Or kiss where the sun don't shine
One expects a life story
Wrapped in lines that rhyme.
Life is more than a helper
Or a borrower be
Life needs love and laughter
For all the people to see.
I shall not be a challis
For anyone's gripe or whine
I am still a human
With the freedom I claim as mine.
I came here for several reasons
Found friends and room to roam.
But with all the attitudes of hate and despair
I may as well stay home.
For when one lets the laughter die
And the joy goes away
There are nothing but empty words
Left for any to say.
All need not be a loss nor a final breath
If you take it upon yourself to be the bridge
For all those who care about us aren't far away
Look! They await us upon that ridge.

Find someone accepting
For exactly who and how you are,
No one should ever ever
Lower their standards, their bar.
Change for no one,
The saying usually goes,
Or within the arms of chaos
You will flounder in its throes.
To answer to another's chant,
Is ignoring who you are,
Tis better to cut free of them,
Than ever wear their scar.

Find someone who is accepting of you
... for whom and what you are?
By that phrase alone you have
... already lowered your standards to meet their bar.
No one need change for anyone, this much is true
... but when you accept someone you have already changed, too.
Should you see the signs of chaos before you enter in
... your judgement should have prevailed or a relationship would not begin.
To listen, you think you know who you are -- but being neutral -- I see a wounded heart
... the scar from another .. is akin to color of the skin .. it doesn't rub off on another .. no matter how close you've been.
ADDENDUM:
I see a wounded heart ... persecuting, they believe, the other person in a failed relationship. This is not the case. This wounded heart is persecuting themself and will never be able to move forward in life because they are too busy with self-flaggellation. Why? Because (clinically correct) 'it makes the injured one feel good'.
I leave silent prayers here.

ARE YOU SURE?
Should you see the signs of chaos before you enter in
... your judgement should have prevailed or a relationship would not begin.WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT SEEING SIGNS BEFOREHAND
To listen, you think you know who you are -- but being neutral -- I see a wounded heart REALLY?WHERE?OR A CAUTION TO PREVENT ONE?
... the scar from another .. is akin to color of the skin .. it doesn't rub off on another .. no matter how close you've been.WHO SAID IT WAS A SCAR SHARED RATHER THAN POTENTIALLY SUSTAINED/INFLICTED?
ADDENDUM:
I see a wounded heart ... WHERE?persecuting, they believe, the other person in a failed relationship. WHAT RELATIONSHIP? I SEE NO MENTION OF ANY. COULD BE A WARNING TO A VIRTUAL STRANGER.This is not the case. This wounded heart is persecuting themself and will never be able to move forward in life because they are too busy with self-flaggellation. Why? Because (clinically correct) 'it makes the injured one feel good'.ARE YOU SURE THIS WASN'T JUST A FRIEND OR ACQUAINTANCE OR TO JOHN Q PUBLIC TO SEEK WHAT HE OR SHE DESERVES IN LIFE AND THAT THEY SHOULDN'T EVER SETTLE FOR LESS ???
Gee Cup, in all my time here I haven't ever seen anyone analyze or give their personal opinion about someone's personal poems, etc. it might not matter I feel violated personally for the fact you did, but the facts remain..only the author can truly know the true meaning..although I will gladly concede if I should, that I am a mere amateur at poetry and obviously failed to convey my meaning accurately or so just anyone knew precisely what I meant.
I leave silent prayers here.

Gems ~~ I meant no personal affront to you or your writing endeavor. You published your piece ... I read your piece ... I was simply translating my personal perspective of what your piece was radiating to me. That is what 'critiquing' (or reading another's work) is all about.
I have 'critiqued' several poetic pieces in the Writer's forum ... and none of those writers have taken offense but have acknowledged gaining a new perspective on what their work does convey to others.
I will not take an opportunity to critique any more of your writings.
My sincerest apologies, if I did, indeed, cause you unwarranted duress.

Love passed me in a short blue dress
and lace.
Her glass purse, hollow and filled with
sharks and whales ...
She wore white
patent leather high heal shoes
and had a tan.
Her hair was so black it was almost blue.
“Love,” I said.
“I beg your pardon,” she said.
“Ms. Love,” I said.
“I beg your pardon,” she said.
So I saw there was no use bothering her on the street
Love passed me on the street in a short blue dress
She was amazing, I could tell........

Whispers. (Written by a dear dear friend of mine)
I long to hear your whispers
Silent in my heart they whimper
Gentle echoes that they are
Of which you are least aware
I hear the whispers of the wind
I see the stars shine in the sky,
But, none feels like your whispers
Or matches the star shining in your eye
It sways ardent breeze of harmony
Each word is wrapped in rhapsody.
At times when wind blows through trees
Do I pause & listen to its passing?
I feel your voice brushing me
The gentle warmth touching me
I hear the tenderness of your voice
That fills the spectrum of my soul.
Your Vibes, I feel when you're near me.
Your breath, I feel tickling me, on my ears
Whisper gently in my ear, a simple whisper
A whisper that speaks louder than words
Into my ears, flow the whispers of love
Whispers, the speech of tireless lips
I long to hear forever, your sweet whisper
Like laughing water, a music to my ears
The soothing words that fall
Smooth from out your lips
On my heart, it pours and lands softly
Dewdrops they are, on my finger tips
The mischievous glow in your eyes
Which I always long to see forever
The ecstasy I see in your eyes, to which
Myself and my desires, I give
Standing still, I gaze into the twin pools
Count your eyelashes, Measure your breath
How I wish, I could taste the honey
Of your maidenly breath
I wonder whether you stare at me?
Could that be connected with mine?
Eyes to eyes share a story, gather flowers
Share the fragrance, share the music
Open your heart, gently close your eyes and see
There appears a face, in the space in your heart
I will hold you there, I swear, in your dreams
In the warmth of desire, with a gentle embrace
In a soft embrace, Heads on shoulders
We entwine, you are mine forever
Capture my heart with your passion
Tickle & whisper softly in my ears
Your voice, my love, I will listen
In my heart, it always whispers
Come with me, be with me Forever
And Always, Let me Love You

maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach(to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang so sweetly
she couldn't remember her troubles,
and milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles
and may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea.

Lost and Found
I lost my heart, to a lost world, to lost cause
Not knowing the lost cause - of - this lost world.
But it’s not this lost world that is the cause - but the lost cause
Looking for the world without it’s lost cause -
What is the lost cause
Looking for the lost cause, to find my lost heart - find the cause
Cause was found, to this lost world - no more lost cause
To this lost world - no more lost world - to the cause
Found the cause without it’s lost
Found the world without it’s lost
Looking for my lost heart, in this world and it’s cause
Found the world but no lost heart
Found the cause but no lost heart
Found no heart and found no lost heart
To this world and it’s cause
Need the lost world and it’s lost cause
To find my lost heart

For a special someone.....some fuel for thought....
A master poet wrote your joy is your sorrow
Weighed honestly on a scale with no mask
You have not dwelt in the space of tomorrow
But the keeper will prepare you for the task
Nature can only take what nature gives
Sooner or later we all will be bereaved
No darkness can void where love lives
Eventually all pain will be relieved
No doubt it is sad to lose a familiar form
For affection is manifested by sight
Plus many other senses that are warm
Let your spirit rise to toward the Light
High above all earthly emotional pain
Where all sinners are justly contrite
Is a peace that is hard to explain
Where forgiveness always burns bright......
Relax and Don't dwell my Dear,You can't change what is inevitable.....
Sad but true.....

But it’s not this lost world that is the cause - but the lost cause
Looking for the world without it’s lost cause -
What is the lost cause
Looking for the lost cause, to find my lost heart - find the cause
Cause was found, to this lost world - no more lost cause
To this lost world - no more lost world - to the cause
Found the cause without it’s lost
Found the world without it’s lost
Looking for my lost heart, in this world and it’s cause
Found the world but no lost heart
Found the cause but no lost heart
Found no heart and found no lost heart
To this world and it’s cause
Need the lost world and it’s lost cause
To find my lost heart
(Vasco M. Resendes)
You pass me in the forums and our words briefly pass.
You hold the post open for me as I enter behind you.
I say thanks, but you have no idea that my mind is blank.
In the forums you crack a joke, I flash a smile,
you have no idea that my heart is in denial.
You ask me how my day was and I say fine.
You have no idea that my brain and I are arguing to if I should cross the line.
My happiness is gone as I post in this chat.
The thoughts in my head have me wishing I was laying in a cold dark hole.
Once you lose your soul there is no turning back.
Everything you once dreamed of no longer has an impact.
You don't want to love nor do you want to have fun.
Your days are so long the problems in your mind make you question if you should carry on.
You smile so that's what people see on your face,
they think that you are happy but deep down inside you feel like a worthless disgrace.
Each day the performance you put on for people is Emmy award winning,
But you question yourself and wonder if you act is just a way for you to hold off your own internal sinnings.
When you wake up from a night's sleep you wonder to yourself if today is the day your heart will be back to it's old self or will it still be skipping every other beat.
You wonder if things that once made you happy to be alive will make a comeback.
You wonder if the little things in life that made you who you are will have you once again dreaming to the stars.
You wonder if you will feel less empty hearted.
You wonder to yourself who holds the match to start that fire.
You're tired of running and losing your breath.
You want to hold tight to something that will help you once again enjoy the journey into lives amazing treks.
You want to feel that every day can be better than the last.
You want to turn your lost soul feeling into a thing of your past.....
Oh thank goodness for some understandings from some and no understandings from others.
You wonder where would we be without internet, would you be happy or would you be gay.
You think hard and read what was said, words just go crazy it's all in my head.

All the days of my youth were spent
Each day as a coin tossed in air
Spring of my life short lived
Disappearing into long hot summer.
Sweltering under labors of love
Sunrise to sunset dusk to dawn
Into the shadows of humid night
Years running laboriously into autumn.
Gone from me like the winding stream
Where I cannot see nor follow
My thirst never gone my steps unsure
Winter clouds gathering above my head
Frost running in my veins.
Could I but return to the days fallen
Like the leaves of autumn burnt and dry
And capture the raindrops to moisten my lips
Absorb the warmth of sun and glow of moon and stars
Would I still be withering under time
Mindful of each second stealing away
Or would there be a flickering flame of joy
Resting in my breast easing the pain
Of splendid life never embraced.

,,,And I like this one by E.E. Cummings
In Spite of Everything
in spite of everything
which breathes and moves, since Doom
(with white longest hands
neatening each crease)
will smooth entirely our minds
-before leaving my room
i turn, and (stooping
through the morning) kiss
this pillow, dear
where our heads lived and were.

I Carry Your Heart With Me
,,,by E. E. Cummings
I carry your heart with me (I carry it in
my heart) I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

Don’t write what they tell you to,
Don’t write formulaic paragraphs
Counting sentences as you go
Three-four-five-Done.....
walk away from the keypad....
Don’t write to fill in lines,
For a weary scorer earning respect
Handing out points for main ideas
Supported by examples
From the carefully selected text.....
Write for yourself,
Write because until you do,
You will never understand
What it is you mean to say
Or who you want to be.....
Write because it makes you whole.....
And write for the world,
Because your voice is important
Write because people are hurting
Because animals are dying
Because there was an injustice
That will never change if you don’t
Write because it matters.....
And know this,
They’ll tell you it won’t make a difference,
Not to trouble over grownup things,
Just fill in the lines
And leave it at that.....
Tell them you know the truth,
That writing is powerful....
Just one voice on the page
Speaks loudly......
And not only can a chorus of those united change the world,
It is the only thing that ever has.....

There once was a poet who sowed it
He sowed lots a seeds an it showed it
In the light of the moon
Three months after June
He wen out to his field an he strode it
Tomorrow, he said, I will harvest
In the wee early hours, it is best
I'll pick lotsa beans
In my bib overall jeans
A straw hat, but not in my patched vest
An my John Deere...

I felt empty in my heart
a loving spirit that was sleeping,
and then I saw Love coming from far away
so glad, I could just recognize.
saying 'you think you can honor me',
and with each word laughing.
And a little feeling within myself
watching the way it awakened....
I saw a lady that I liked
coming towards the spot I was at,
one wonder passed another wonder.
And as my mind keeps telling me,
Is love a blossom like, She is Spring who springs
first, and what bears the name Love, who resembles me,
What has awoken these feelings in me.....
