I just found out what a RAT ROD was last week. LOL- and I have had several of those kinds.
I just sold my Vintage 1970 Ford XLT RANGER, 360, V8 with 138,000 original miles on it- and it didn't have a hole in it.

And I had 13 of them just like that in my yard. I gave them away! And mine were full of rats, snakes and wasp, hornets and spiders! I always called them JUNK CARS- ((You know you need a power steering unit for one, you go on out there and get it off another!- and never know when you need a tire that will hold air!

Bull, Back in the late 50s my grandfather drove his car that looked very much like this

to our house a distance of about 15 miles. He would do this a couple or three times a

month. At this time he was in his early 80s.

I remember the roof looked like it was leather and the apolstery was gray and felt like

wool. On the steering wheel that was wood were levers to advance the spark and a couple

other things I don't know what.

Da Bull wins a prize!!! That is definitely a Buick. Looks to be a '30 or '31.

Richard's grand dad could have had a Buick, as these wire wheels were optional on some models with woods spokes standard. The key here is the distinctive roof line and the hub caps.

Were the fins any differant then the foils they put on car to hold them down on the road at high speed ?

Most of the Fins were for LQQKS OOOoohman... but some were effected by wind speed although...

Like for example your Chrysler fins were effected by Lateral Air Flow.. More so than the down effect of the Spoilers your referring..

Fins are coming back popular with lots of car enthusiast... So cars in the late 50's and early 60's are really getting popular where 15 years ago most went to the crusher..

Remember when the '59 Chevys came out? Everyone was saying that the big fins would cause the car to lift at speed..... Funny..... they ran pretty well in NASCAR!

That is a beautiful '39 Standard Coupe Miss Gayle!!! The '38 through '40 Ford coupes are my all time favorite cars.....

Ford made Standard and DeLuxe models in the late '30s. The Standards carried the front end styling of the previous year's DeLuxe models with some minor changes in trim. The side trim on this car is a quick way to tell it is a '39 Standard rather than a '38 DeLuxe. (I have far too much car "stuff" jammed inside my skull)
