Quote from bub049
Current toys:
1927 Model T coupe in pieces right now...
1962 Corvair Monza Sport Sedan with a rare cloth interior and factory A/C.
1963 Corvair 500 coupe. True "Little Old Lady" car..... bought it from estate. Under 50,000 miles. 1 option car-automatic tranny. no radio. rear side windows don't open even.
1963 Corvair Spyder convertible. 46,000 original miles. Owned since 1974. Drag raced in the '70s.
1966 Plymouth Satellite 2 door hardtop. In family since 1976. Built 440. all black.
1956 Crestliner Commodore speed boat. Identical to boat Dad had when I was growing up. Skied behind it for many years.
Would trade most of above for a '50 Olds coupe, 40 Ford coupe or '55 Crown Victoria.
He lists the Crown Vic as one he would trade for.. I'm just wondering if he would trade his 63 Corvair Spyder for the Vic....

That is a sweet Crown Bill! Has a ton of factory options on it as well!!!
Thanks for posting! The only car I have that I wouldn't sell or trade is the '63 Spyder convert..... I got it for free in 1974 (it had been partially stripped). I got a '64 convert parts car and built my '63. Had it done and painted in time to go to the Corvair Society of America (CORSA) convention in Chicago that year. Had just bought a different house and had a new baby, so I didn't have money for a hotel room, so, I turned the passenger bucket seat around at night and slept in the car. Borrowed a shower from my buddy who could afford a room.
I am now getting ready to restore that car again. It needs a top, and the upholstery is original '63 and is starting to crack pretty bad. Almost 40 years of cruising has my paint pretty knicked up, so I am going to paint it. I have accumulated all new old stock chrome trim for it and will be putting a correct turbo motor in it. I put in a carb'd engine in it in the late '70s for drag racing. I had 4 single barrel carbs on a 164 cubic inch 6 cyl motor. My best times was 14.46, which is pretty sweet for such a tiny engine in the old days. (2.7 liter). I also found a very rare set of correct factory optional Kelsey Hayes genuine wire wheels (under 500 sets made) that will be going on the car for shows only. I wish I could afford to have the wheels restored, but Dayton Wheel wants $650 per wheel to restore them. LOL! I am NOT Jay Leno!
And that is the story of my '63 Spyder!

Well its been another long day in the Garage working on Cabinets today...
.......I was in hopes of getting the Bench Top Screw and Glued.. (the OLD HEN's will like this)today but to many adjustments account the shop floor slope...
My son-in-law took this picture and again its small and side ways for what reason I do not know but like I said before C*ck your HEAD to the left to kinda sorta see my Cabinet Project.. if you want...
I have no idea how to change this and when I tried to edit the picture in Photobucket they want me to make the change ...

Howdy all you varments. I had such hopes when they redid the crown vics. And..as usual...didnt have any cool like the orig. Nice slammed ride for sure. I wonder if that coupe wasnt done long ago to outrun revenuers across the marsh. lol. I wish I could remember what my corvair convert was. I cant even think of the year! 65>????? It was red and black over. Hey...anyone in the garage know of a cheap pair of armrests for Joes 58 Ford yellow truck. He wants to pay under $30 for good shape...the comma pad on top of the 2 screw plastic that were standard issue in 50-57 Chevy and Ford sedans. Simple and plain. He will re-do upholstery but needs the pads with good cores.

Reminds me of the Saturdays spent cruising junkyards. Spent so many times in them, knew most of the cars and trucks by name. lol. And then yards were filling up with new crap cars. And then one day..realized they were all gone and only Salvage Yards remained with all their neat rows and shelves and high prices. And the cars were regularly crushed when they hit 10 years old or less. sigh.... We didnt own them but they still were ours. Check out the chrome on that one. And wow did that car get crunched. Look..there is a denim jacket left in this one. Ya think????? hmmm? I know that there is aftermarket door rests. And they cost $50 to 100 which is too much. Plus he wants to recover to match his interior so why pay for vinyl that will be pulled. Real ratrodders dont buy new!!!
