You all can argue the tattoo thing all you want but it all just comes down to personal choice and preference
I don't mind a few tats, but I really don't care for a lot of ink and not many piercings
it doesn't mean I would just blow off a woman I like for having them...but it would make her a bit less attractive to me in many cases... especially if we are talking about face piercings ...sorry...I have just never seen ANY facial piercings that do not at least slightly detract from their natural beauty..and some detract much more than a little.
like I said..I try not to judge them too much on it..but it will never be my preference

It's right near the anti-gay stuff and that bit about not sleeping with your mom.
Personally, I find some tattoos to be very artistic....but it sounds like the Big Guy is gonna be a little P.O'd when you show up that Care Bear tattooed on your keister.

Ps I wonder if people are aware tattoos go back 1,000's of years in history. . Or they are basing their preference on a stereotype
I can't speak for others of course...but I base MY preferences on how it looks to me personally.
There are some beautiful women that happen to have big tattoos ..but they were beautiful before they got them too... and although it is fine for them to like them.. it didn't make them more beautiful.
We can only hope they are done so as not to detract from it either...

The only bad thing about tattoos is how much they cost i have one and want more but i camt bring myself to spend the money on something like that. So in conclusion i like girls with tattoos but have to wounder how responsible you are with money if you have a lot of them

Umm no self esteem or emotional problem here, each one I got means something to me, hence the reason I go them.
since each tattoo means something to you clearly points to it being emotional ...the fact that the only way you could remember these experiences was to have them permanently and painfully etched upon your body is why it points to low self-esteem ...

It depends, gals that are covered in tats I find disgusting, but a few here and there that aren't blatant cries for attention I've no problem with. Piercings are pretty much the same.
My late wife had a huge dragon tattoo on her back, everyone in her family had pretty much the same tat as well and it was quite large, but it looked tasteful.(her family was mobbed up) That was awesome (the tat), but most folks I see with tats just seem to scream for attention.

Big difference between being born with a face and ELECTING to VOLUNTARILY deface your body.
I just can't get a handle on, other than peer pressure or drunken stupidity, why someone would want to get a tattoo. Especially one on their back that they can't even see!
I mean if you like art, wouldn't you want it hanging on your wall where you can see it?
Two things I guess I'll never understand:
1) why someone would want to get a tattoo
2) how a guy can be attracted to another guy

But after I got back into playing golf a few years ago, even watching golf is fun.

I love all the hate that people like myself get from people on these things but how many people that have body mods have you gotten to know? Narrow minded and hypocritical people are way worse than someone with a tat or piercing. I'd much rather be judged on my body modifications than make myself out to be a piece of trash idiot whose stuck in their grandparents ways and views on how society should perceive someone with tattoos. For the record I have 8 tattoos and 7 piercings and want to be covered in ink. One last thing judge people for their actions and personality not their appearance(for the bible thumpers go re-read it and see what it tells you about judging others)

people cut themselves with razor blades, burn themselves with candles, accupunture on tattoos ..and then refer to it as being "Art" ...it seems more like a cry for help

Not a terrible comparison but working out to stay healthy and strong isn't like getting a tattoo.
Some jobs require physical strength. I don't know many jobs outside acting that require tattoos. And getting a tat doesn't make you healthier or prolong your expected lifespan like working out and eating healthy.

well actually I started lifting weights because I was supposed to fight a T-Rex in a sci-fi movie we were making but the head was so heavy that it kept falling off the body and we couldn't film it ...but during that time I notice that lifting weights gave me so much extra energy that I stuck with it

Are you saying being emotional is a bad thing? My tat is not the only way I can remember my daughter and son, but no matter where I go or what happens in my life, such as losing everything to a fire or flood, they are always with me. Hopefully when my memory starts to go I can look at my tat and remember. Also, it's not really painful( at least mine wasn't). It was more an annoyance, kind of like someone telling me I have low self esteem and emotional problems when they don't know jack shit about me. 
I'm saying that being in such an emotional state that you feel the need to inflict pain upon yourself or have another inflict upon you clearly means you have some unaddressed emotional issues
to call this activity "Art" or that you need to mark up your body in case you get Alzhemier's are just excuses to not address the actual issues

I see the reason why I made that choice to represent a landmark in my life.
I see people with low self esteem buff themselves up in the gym for their insecuirities, but not everyone.
nope...I don't go to the gym .....but anyway low self-esteem in this situation would be if I felt the need to allowed the ones that own the gym to stick needles into me and tattoo the gym's name or logo on my body

I know this has probably been brought up in the past but I don't have hours and hours to spend looking through all the threads to find one. I personally would date someone with tats and piercings. Just because they have those doesn't mean they are bad people. I have tats and I am pretty laid back and down to earth.
ABSOLUTELY, there are some that would be cause for me not to want anything to do with a person.

Funches, it's not about sticking needles into yourself. Not for me anyway. It's not a self harm thing. It litterally was something I wanted to celebrate a time in my life. Nothing more or less.
Btw I wasn't aiming the gym comment at you. It was just a random statement.
it has to be about pain especially since sticking needles into yourself is how one gets a tattoo, it has to be self harming since it involves you intentionally placing yourself into a painful position, and to believe you have to celebrate a time in your life by inflicting pain, points to something more painful
