and I don't need a tattoo to remember where I was and what I was doing on 9/11
and I can still clearly remember watching my daughter being born and how surprisingly tough it was to cut the umbilical cord

I have a couple tatts, and some piercings and id date someone with them too. I love tattoos. Just nothing overboard. Deff no guys with their ears gauged to the point of no return. It just looks gross

Tattoos are like the pictures of animals cavement would paint on the walls to tell "their story".
Interesting.
Still, for the most part but with some exceptions, I see someone with a lot of tattoos and/or piercings and I think "damaged goods".
Maybe it's just leftover from the time I grew up in, when homosexuality and tattoos weren't so "mainstream accepted".
Nah, its not that.
It's more what I've observed over the years. Folks with lots of piercings and tattoos are more likely to end up in jail or working dead end jobs than folks with no or one tasteful tattoo.
Of course there are always exceptions, but growing up the "bad kids" that rebelled got tattoos. As a young adult, the felons from jail and bikers had tattoos. As a mature adult, more "okay" people are getting one or two tattoos, however the criminals, mentally deficient, and otherwise "bad" people are still getting lots of tattoos.
Oh well, they do say that stereotypes are based on a little truth.
When I see a chick with pieces of metal in her face, I think "that poor girl must not love herself or life".

Just to expand a little on my earlier thoughts..
there is nothing wrong with tattoos or piercings in and of themselves..
People are and should be free to do as they wish..
having said that...
There is what I would deem as tasteful and what i would feel is, well... NOT
everyone has their own thoughts on this, and you should give it due thought and do as you believe best, and as far as dating someone who has tats or piercings... that is also a personal choice that should be exercised...
Even though I personally "try" not to be too judgmental on things like that... you can go far enough with it that I would not consider dating that person
I think we have all seen the pictures of going past the point of tasteless with it.

Either way its fine with me if they do or don't. However I draw the line with face tattoos, plugs or gaping holes in the ears, and if their face looks like the guy from hellrazor. You can have tattoos and piercings and not go overboard with them. I personally don't have piercings but I do have several tattoos, three of which are on my arms.

Accupuncture is not supposed to hurt. Neither did either of my tattoos, one right below the base of my neck made my hair stand up and caused me to shiver about 4 times in a row, the other is one my hip, it only hurt a little when I got it redone, I'm very ticklish had to take a sort of half nap to keep myself from laughing. Which I still did some anyways. Confused the hell out of the artist.

You are talking about several issues. Mental health, abuse, environment.
You are basically implying anyone who gets a tattoo has these issues. This would apply to people without tattoos aswell. So, your points are invalid.
I have yet to meet someone who states or advises they got a tattoo because they enjoy pain. Maybe, just maybe I have been lucky. I have though come across people who are judged negatively because they choose to tell a story or draw a picture rather than use paper on their body.
the pain from the needle is only one aspect...the 100s or perhaps 1000s of pricking needles indentations place upon the body is not necessarily why people opt to get a tattoo..generally it's due in part to deal with the pain associated with unaddressed or hard to deal with emotional issues or events

to each his own, my daughter age 23 had 2" gauges, and her man gauged, it's gross to me...but all culture's have their idea of "beauty" I picked my battles, nothing a scalpel and a laser can't take care of! otherwise she's got it pretty together for a youngster...
but me too, it's just not attractive to me, the earring in the one appropriate ear is pushing it at this age, Iv'e got three on my left ear and sport an ear cuff when appropriate but usually it's just a pair of small gold hoops, or studs.

Giving birth is painful, yet our species is still here.
I get my brows waxed, some consider that painful. Not to mention waxing other areas of your body, but I bet you wouldn't go on a rant about that.
Our everyday relationships can cause us pain at times, maybe I should shut down all communication with people as to not let the pain in.
I have no tattoo's nor do I want any, but that being said I don't believe people who have chosen to have them are defective or are into pain. Wether getting a tattoo is painful or not is irrelevant, so many things in life come with the potential to be painful.
amen, and not only that, we, as humans, enter into relationships with all of our hearts, only to have that person break it. A broken heart hurts worse than tattoos, child birth, a gun shot, working out, or any other pain imaginable. That is "IF" you know how to love.

I have dated guys with tattoos. One guy kinda had pentagram tattoo on his arm that made me a little uncomfortable, but he was a really nice guy and intelligent too. Sometimes you caon't really judge a person on their ink.

I've dated chicks with tats. I gotta say they were more adventurous in the bedroom than the chicks without tats.
One chick I dated had a mickey mouse tat on one of her boobs. That chick was crazy in a good way if you know what I mean.

I have tattoos and body piercings and I am not a sure thing by any means. Just because I chose to do those things rather than be out running the streets and doing drugs does not make me easy. I have a lot of tattoos and am very proud of each and every one of them. But that doesn't mean that I'll lay down for just anybody. I don't normally answer these forums but this one could not go unignored! Have a great day.

So there I was.... (how all good military stories start)
I was at a conference in Nebraska many years ago. There was this lady that I sort of knew vaugely from back here in Maryland. She was always dressed nice and conservative, sensible shoes (with some heel or I would have ignored her).
The last night of the conference we start talking at the happy hour, fast forward, we are back in her room making a forbidden Danish grainy satellite porno; and what do you know she had a tramp stamp
(an ivy vine if I remember correctly)

It seems these tattoo threads have a way of bringing lurkers out and getting them to post in the forums.
So, in a way, being an evil devil's advocate has some advantages.

I'm too lazy to do it this time....but the last tattoo thread I went back through and tallied each woman who came on in defense of her ink and claimed to not be "easy" (that was the subtext of that thread and maybe has little to do tih this one; who knows)....anyway.
If they self declared they were not "easy" I looked to see if they had kids. There was a nearly 100% correlation. So I said, in jest; at least they were easy once.

So, im thinking that really this isn't about how u guys are thinking that tatts are so terrible because we're mutilating ourselves. N its just horrible and a cry for help, "supposedly " i think either 1 of 2 things have happened u were scarred deeply by a woman with tatts. So now we should all pay. Or this is ur desperate cry for attention and ur ecstatic about it. B/c in the scheme of things uve figured out that sometimes with some women it doesn't matter how much education u have or money. Neither of those can get u everything thing in life. So ur still left SOL n u hate it.
