It wasn't a need it was a want. Much like hairstyles such as dreadlocks or having designs cut into ones hair. I did not NEED a tattoo but wanted one as a permanent way to express my love for and feelings for my children. Again, to me it was not painful, to some, especially depending on the placement, it is. You can infer that it's in case I get Altzheimers all you want but as with a your other assumptions it is wrong. The tat being there for that eventuality is just a bonus. I have to wonder at the severe emotional issues you must have to feel the need to judge others and tell them why they did something they like.
"Want" is merely an emotional component or sub-category of "Need"
but as a measure of respect I can no longer comment on your situation or add to the pain since it pertains to your children

well if you wish to prove that your tattoos are not a result of emotional or low self esteem issues...then perhaps you shouldn't associate the tattoos you have with the "pain" pertaining to your children ...because that sort of defeat the purpose of your argument that there is no "pain"
so ...er..do you have any other tattoos that you went through "pain" to get that have nothing to with "pain"?

If you were truly proud of the way God made you, you wouldn't deface his artwork with tattoos and piercings.
It would seem that people who aren NOT proud of who they are, are the ones to change themselves by tattooing and piercing.
Think about it - if you truly loved yourself the way you were you wouldn't feel the need to change or embelish yourself.

Giving birth is painful, yet our species is still here.
I get my brows waxed, some consider that painful. Not to mention waxing other areas of your body, but I bet you wouldn't go on a rant about that.
Our everyday relationships can cause us pain at times, maybe I should shut down all communication with people as to not let the pain in.
I have no tattoo's nor do I want any, but that being said I don't believe people who have chosen to have them are defective or are into pain. Wether getting a tattoo is painful or not is irrelevant, so many things in life come with the potential to be painful.

If someone is truly happy with themselves they don't feel the need to get a tattoo.
Folks with feelings of inadequacy compensate by "improving" themselves with tattoos and piercings.

In fear of repeating myself it wasn't painful.
then you either have a press on tattoo or suffer from CIPA which is a rare genetic disorder that leaves you unable to feel any type of pain ..or perhaps was drunk or under the influence when you received it..
as for what your children have to do with it.....yes or no...would you allow someone to stick 100s of "inkless" pricks into them ....that question tends to pop tattooed parents back into reality

They should pass a law that folks have to have a psychological screening prior to buying a tattoo.
I bet if peope had to be mentally and emotionally stable in order to get a tattoo that tattoo sales would plummet.

Jjay i was totally sober when I got both of my tatts and will be when I get my next 1. Funches. my daughter who is a minor has already asked for a one and shes been told she's not getting one till she's of age. And she really needs to think about what she wants it should mean something to her. It shouldn't be something she does from having a wild hair up her butt

I have tattoos as well, and I got them when I was younger because I was under the false impression they were "cool". Now I understand what "cool" really is, it has nothing to do with how one looks.
