Rather than battle clay soil for a few veggies I built a raised bed and went to the landscaping place for a load of top soil. It works for me and is basically a wish more than food for the table. Another option is a "Straw Bale Garden" great info on "Google & YouTube" and it turns into great compost for the next year!

You are certainly correct...gardening for me is good therapy. The raised bed thing is a good idea. Lucky for me I live an area where there is a good mixture of sand and soil. The local farmers grow everything....peaches, root crops, vine crops, beans, cotton and corn. All things need to grow is water and sunshine. I affectionately call my area "God's Country."

At $10+ for a bale of straw that lasts one season, they can cram it! We used to sell straw for ten cents a bale cause no one wanted it! I raise tomatos, peppers, cukes and lettuce in 5 gallon pails on the deck. I buy them for a buck from the grocery store bakery. Or scrounge them. I punch 3 small holes around them about 6-8 inch up from base to drain water out. And when dryer, they hold a reservoir so you dont have to water every day. Fill with barnyard dirt I have and they last for years. Just rotate crop every year.

Half of the farmland is now in subdivision postage stamp lots in this country. The FFA is not near the interest it was and the farmer is using their grass for beef and hay production.

Agenda? Stay inside and keep warm. Temp dropped to 49 degrees with an east wind and rain.

That is what made me angry in high school. Mom, dad and I ran a 100+ head of sheep. I lived on a farm and worked like the farmhand. And when we tried to get me into AG or shop..NO! You are a girl and would be disruptive. Cant join FFA.Take home ec!! And boys couldnt take home ec! Funny thing..I grew up around the farm boys and we worked side by side as equals. Including fist fights.
Today will be more of yesterday...pick up, carry, clean, haul, seed, etc.

Oil Pull tractors were made by the Advance Rumbely Co. One of the very early sucsessful tractors very respected in the day & now as a top collectors tractor, very popular & expencive today. Yes sankie I have something special much like miss orz had with her Jag.
This 1918 Oil Pull has ben working up & down my road now for 100 years this year 1917 to 2017 was 1st owned by the Smulik family then in 1921 was bought by the Star Thrasahing co.
that had 4 owners one being my grandfather they used it together untill 1952 then it sat till I got it out in 1974. I now own it cause I was the only one to show an intrest in it and the other owners have sence died including my dad. Thanks dad

Wash the aluminum walls of my sun porch. This is a spring project each year and then I can enjoy knowing it's clean from ceiling to floor. With the large sliding windows the dust seems to come through the screens and collects on the walls. Can shut the windows, go outside with the broom and cause a dust cloud by just sweeping the screens.

I had a deck built onto the back of my house. My daughter and I stained it last Thursday.
If the rain holds off for a while I will be spending some time there today.

You have taken dinosaur bone from an archeological location, Mike?

Would you take a bone from an Indian mound, too?

Why have you ASSUMED that the Dino bone was from an archeological site? Multiple places, especially in Utah, where this can be collected LEGALLY. Secondly, this was purchased from a reputable dealer, along with an assortment of other materiel.

Wow, Mike!

You sprang right to the defensive, didn't you?

You must not comprehend sarcastic commentary. My apologies.

I assume you have something to hide by jumping all mad and angry and stuff.

Do mushrooms grow in dinosaur graveyards?

How many years have you been sober now, Mike? A great accomplishment for you, friend.

Defensive? ? You know it. This is no less than the third personal attack you have pulled. To imply that I raid native sites goes way beyond 'acceptable' behavior. Comment out of the woodwork, my sobriety has absolutely nothing to do with this post. Guess it's finally time for the 'block' button.
