When a lady dates someone much younger than her, it's not cool, it's funny. I think it's more acceptable for men to date younger women.
I mean how much of an age gap are we talking about here? It would be weird of my dad dated someone my age or younger. I often think of it like; how old were you when she/he was born. If you were already banging while he/she was still in the cradle, it's weird.

Its just with older women by a good margin, is merely easy, non committed, no pay as you go sex for these guys.

My ex husband was 10 years older than me and my current boyfriend is 10 years younger than me. I have no problems with age differences as long as people sort of look close in age and they aren't just using the younger/older person for sex or money.
Personally, I would not like to be called a cougar. It's not as COOL as you think. It has a negative connotation. I haven't gone through multiple young men and my relationship is not a sex-only relationship. We go to the gym together, travel and watch sports more than we have sex. So I don't consider myself to be a cougar per se.

Something else to consider about this cougar business...
From another point of view, seeing older women who chase younger men as okay, while holding that older men chasing younger women is not, actually fits in a uniform way, if you see it all as typical male-dominated sexuality. Consider:
The "cougars" are being held to a lower standard than the men. Their behavior is seen as "cute."
The older men chasing younger women, are seen as predators or unfair competition to the younger men. But when you think of someone as an enemy, it means you respect them more than you do someone who you see as harmless, or not a threat.
It's not a double standard at all, from this point of view.

However, compatibility is very important. If you live together as a couple and you are not compatible, it will be hell. You have to compromise & meet in the middle somewhere. I like science fictions, I don't expect him to like it. If he likes it too, that's great. If not, that's ok too, we don't have to like the same things. As long as we are compatible with each other, & we like each other's company, that would be great.
I like sewing & cooking, I can teach it to him, that is if he wants to learn it. If not that's ok too. I am a very caring & nurturing girlfriend. I don't mind taking care of him. My personality is a blend of the woman from the 1960's & a modern woman in one.
Women from the 1960's = like to cook, clean, warm & nurturing.

Bumble bee sometimes disagrees with the things I've said. However, most men like my idea of what a good woman should be.
Think of it as if you have a son, how would you want his wife to be? Of course you would want your daughter in law to be good to your son, am I right?
The problems with many women is that, they don't like being nurturing. Like if you said a woman should cook for her man, many women would say: "Why? He has no hands to cook for himself?" This is why many relationships failed. It should be not "why?" but how much can you do for your man? Or are you doing enough for your man? That should be the goal. The bad attitudes some women have is why their relationship failed.
You love the guy, right? Why not be nurturing to him? I am nurturing but I don't smother my boyfriend to death. I make it so good that he would want to be with me than to be at any other place. You have to make it so good for him to come home to you, so he wouldn't want to be anywhere else but to be with you, that's the idea, am I right, men?

The 'cougar' idea seems to me to have a connotation of being a mature woman who has sexual realations with a much younger man.
I don't know what the 'double standard' means. Does it mean that a mature man who has sex with a much younger woman?
In both cases it implies to me that the 'relationship' is primarily one of sexual relations without any commitment towards a long term relationship. Although it may be monogamous for the duration of the relationship it seems that there are no further expectations from either party to a long term or 'permanent' relationship. Essentially it would best be described as a 'f--k buddy'.
From perspective my observations (from a long time ago) when I was content to be the 'boy toy' there was not much I learned that had value. One thing that I thought at the time was that I was more mature or intelligent than my peers (otherwise why would these women take an interest in me?). What I did not realize until much later was that they were in complete [control] and that was the primary motivator for them. If they said come - I did. However, if they wanted to do something without interruption they would string me along until they wanted me then I was called upon. It was all about [CONTROL].
Upon reflection I doubt that my 'entertaining' the ladies was in the long term beneficial for them or for me. I learned nothing about compromise, sincere or open dialogue, accepting responsibilities of an adult male or other things that a mutually beneficial and health promoting relationship require.
As an older male in my early sixties I have no interest in having an intimate relationship with any woman under fifty (and fifty is a stretch). Younger women are fun to have coffee with. They are exciting and interesting full of life and curiosity but my friendship with a few is strictly platonic. Caring for them is limited to advising them to command respect from anyone they date.
I don't know why some men of my age pursue relationships with much younger women. I do find that many of the 50+ women seem to be astutely aware of the value of pensions beyond the government old age pension. ha ha

Well I consider myself a cougar, I prefer younger men, but don't disregard someone because they are older.
I have come to realize that I am the female version of the creepy old dude!! Lol and I'm ok with that. Dating should be fun and if someone gets a good laugh because they think I'm trying to date out of my league who cares, at least I made them laugh!!

There was a woman that went to jail for being a cougar here. She was f**king around with a student. They told her to stay away, she didn't, she went to jail. I guess they got together again when she got out and he was legal age.
