I would love to grab things from ex's hoard ,

except I don't know what most of it is good for.
Lots of tools ,which he never used to improve this place .
Old computers, wires, tool benches still in boxes bought several years ago ( four of them!)
He was, is selfish and greedy, and a hoarder!
The basement has a room stuffed with boxes of crap.
The shed he built for himself is still half full. There is still crap in the garage.
Looks like at three or four more loads of stuff to move out yet!
He took the rototiller, a lawnmower, some big saws, A shelf he must have bought from
A library on the trailer and a huge load of books from the shed on the truck this last
Time.

Will it ever end?

He bought all this stuff and hid it from me because I worked more than him.
He even built extra shelves in the basement to stick things on.
WTH?

I have moved seven times in the 11 years since my divorce. Each time I move, I throw a LOT of stuff away. Even still, I have stuff that questions my sanity...I ask myself, "why do I keep that crap?"

Goodwill is great, but consider the homeless Veterans who can't afford the $5.99 shirt for their interview in civilian life. The prices are ridiculous. Why not donate to the Veterans on Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood? They need your gently used items. Thanks. thank for your help for our Veterans

Goodwill is now a "for profit" operation. The CEO is paid a ton and the disabled workers don't get paid squat. Neighbor boy with Autism worked there and they ran his a** off for about $2.50 an hour.

I donate my stuff to the Salvation Army or to a place called Bridging that provides household goods for formally homeless folks when then get placed in an apartment. No charge to the clients.

The "Goodwill" has turned the business into profit. In this area they are now building their own stores instead of rentin in strip malls. Even started using their own bags this past summer printed with GOODWILL.

The Salvation Army has an abused shelter as well as a soup kitchen for meals twice a week. Also, am finding thrift stores that are set up for the purpose of assisting school children in remote areas with dental and eye glasses via school recommendations. There is one that has a ton of clothing and everything is a dollar except for children under size 6 and those are 50 cents. Then from time to time a bit of furniture for just a few dollars and lots of household items for $1. Then another that I recently found is run by a woman and set up in a detention school. She holds her sales first Saturday of each month and again cheap prices. Framed pictures for $2, life jackets for $2, what nots and dishware for 25 cents, etc. She uses the money to help those that have lost everything to a fire or flood, etc. Makes me feel good to donate to these Thrift Shops.

I have a big collection of picture frames, but guess what? Not a one that I can use for two limited edition prints that I want to frame to match the others I have hanging.

I had a throw with the dogs playing poker. I wonder what ever happened to that?
Once in a while I get into things I've had stored away for years. Maybe I'll find it.

I realize I should have kept a better eye on tenant and how the house was. He took care of major like plumbing, but never washed a wall or anything. I am using a sponge mop on kitchen ceiling to remove first 6 layers of black. There is damage from his pups, broken window panes, peeling paper and everything is black from the wood and cooking grease. His sisters and one brother are doing well removing all his stuff. I swear he was a centipede. Shoes and boots all over the place. And clothes all over the house. I have ton of work to do to bring the house back up again. Like I needed this extra painting and sanding and cleaning.
I see that a ton of crap outside is all his! So once it is all gone, only two trucks and a couple engines under hoods will be mine. I asked brother to unblock the one window the huge entertainment cabinet was against. And...hmmm...where is all the sunlight. All I see through the glass blocks is green. So the trees have grown up again and need clearing.
It is a wonder all the crap one accumulates in a life time. Especially when family dies and we inherit half of theirs!
I tell Eric that all mine will one day be his. And he says..gee thanks. LOL. I call it Montezuma's revenge. And he can try to figure out what it is and why the hell I kept it.

Try simple green as a cleaner / soap or 409 ,cleans walls well for smoke grease , just dirt. It seems as I clean stuff out more stuff grows to take it's place lol. Take care folks as the weather is getting warmer, fast , I got over heated taking down the old security screen door and putting new security door backup, I need to drink more water and lay off all the coffee , be well .

What is worst is the upstairs. I put rough stucco on so no one would hand print the walls. Never primed and they never painted either. So now the wood soot is all over them. All I can think of doing is taking a stiff brush and trying to brush it clean. Then maybe paint with Kils. I was thinking 409 if I an get it in a quart concentrate. Or TSP.
They want to come today and move out all the furniture. And figure to get a junker for the bulk of the outside metal stuff. They got a storage unit. The one sisters SO has gotten to the end of his rope..cant move in his house anymore and more stuff to go yet!

Hi , the Kilz primer , well most of it is a all in one , primer , sealer, stain blocker, I get the inside ,outside ,I have used it, inside and outside , it works well, on new drywall ,texture on drywall, stucco ,new lumber , new doors, and Behr paint . I hate to paint so I tried the Kilz brand 30 , 40 years ago , it has always covered well for me, prime it , let it dry , paint it , then clean up the mess , lol best wishes ORZ with your work , I buy Kilz from Home Depot , have them shake/ spin it, mix it up for you, some times you have to ask them to do it for you.

I was so pissed yesterday at things in the house, about ready to abandon it again. I see why dad did. Went to HD and came home loaded for bear. I had a quart of a stuff to do skim coats and put it back and grabbed the GALLON! Can of high gloss white. TSP substitute. I looked at Kilz but be another step. If they had had high gloss would have. Bottle of stuff for industrial grease. It DOES clean the kitchen windows. lol.
Got rust reformer for freezer and kit sink cabinet. And wood stove. Joe said use grill paint
not engine. No...grill is 1200 and now engine is 200, 500 and 2000. So bought that. What engine runs at 200??????
The new tenant will be the lawyer who was Bob's BF since grade school. Joe has his own property. Besides what he would do to the house...I would kill him for.
He feels bad for getting a cold and not coming up to help. I see why nature gave it to him. To save his life because I would have beat him over the head with the fry pan. NO NO NO! Til I scream..MY F'ing house..NOT YOURS!

I need a opinion or two on a house project , I need to move out of they house to have new water pipes , sewer lines, replaced in the concrete slab , some other work done in 1950 home , I will have this work done by a Lic. contractor , with permits so I can sell the house when the time comes . The 64.00 dollar question is this the time to move into a mobile home , down size , what ever you want to call it and sell the house when all the repairs , up grades are done ??
I talked with a realtor , it will make the house worth more money , I will get my money back on the up grades when I or my kid sells the house.

Looks like I'll be getting a tiny apartment the end of this month. I did opt for a garage on the place so that will help out. Before I moved from SC I had been trying to downsize and THOUGHT I was doing pretty good. Ugh, not!! I still have a bunch of crap to get rid of.
Oh well since I have this "health" issue maybe now it will be easier to turn loose of things and maybe now my kids will realize it will be a lot easier to do with me here than not. Humm maybe not, if I'm not here they could toss it without hearing how it came about in the first place. Its really the memorabilia that's hard. Hummmm, what to do, I guess I'll find out!!

I have been sorting thru the photos and keep sakes for a while , have put most of them in a chest of drawers for my kid ,I have talked with Sharon about this and things she wants , the grandson wants to make a you tube about my life, I told him there really is nothing to tell , just another baby boomer from Ca. that had a few hard knocks just like everyone else
I have still been sorting out stuff , put the trash out at the curb tonight.
Maybe put the house stuff in storage , buy, put small down payment a 30, 35 foot motor home to live in , fix the house , sell it , run off in motor home and be wild , foolish old man , sound good .

My daughter in laws mom and her husband did that. They live the RV life and love it. They are very much into nature, like to hike and while in Organ they did volunteer work for free TV space rental. They do tours to birr watch, cleaned camp areas. They have made close friends with other travelled and do things with then even if it is just having dinner together. Anyway they love it and I wouldn't mind doing it but I'm not really a hiker but maybe I could become one "lol* n
Not a bad plan there Bigbob.

I am not real sure what I want to do , the R V life could be a option , my last boss is doing that . I never planned or had a retirement plan as the time got near , got hurt so the Co. medical me out.
I hear all this stuff about down sizing , make things easier on myself ,yes it does make thing better, well it makes you go thru your stuff, sort of been doing that along with just living life as it comes . I wanted to move to Reno Nevada last year but it floods up there , we get are share of stuff here in Ca. but no floods were I am at , most every thing else but no floods , more drought , no rain , lol .
